Pau Gasol está a punto de anunciar donde continuará su carrera en la NBA. El comunicado de LeBron James, que jugará en Cleveland, y el que vendrá de Carmelo Anthony, casi decidido a renovar por los Knicks, ha precipitado su decisión. El ala-pívot catalán escogerá, salvo propuesta de última hora, entre Chicago o San Antonio.
Los Bulls siempre quisieron a Pau desde que Derrick Rose pidiera su fichaje la temporada pasada. La oferta Chicago es la mejor de todas las que tiene en lo económico. El proyecto deportivo es también sugerente, aunque depende de la recuperación de Rose. Sin duda, los Bulls serían una alternativa de poder en el Este, una conferencia patas arriba tras la vuelta de LeBron a los Cavs. La posibilidad de jugar en un franquicia histórica, la del mito Jordan, también seduce a Pau, que además ve con buenos ojos vivir en una gran ciudad como Chicago, pese a la dureza de su invierno.
Los Spurs, mientras, son el equipo donde soñaba jugar algún día. Admirador de la manera de hacer las cosas en la franquicia texana y del concepto de juego de Popovich, Pau siempre quiso jugar con Duncan, Ginobili y Parker. Piensa que nadie le acerca más a la posibilidad de ser campeón la próxima temporada que los Spurs. Salvo cambio de última hora, en estas opciones se mueve Pau.
