    Both Boateng and Schweinsteiger for me. Boateng was immense, not a single mistake against Messi. And Schweinsteiger did show a lot of heart, was running like an animal, never gave up. A true leader.

    What a sore loser. Seriously, this smells like 2006 after some Argentinean players (especially Heinze) simply didn't want to accept the defeat and started a fight... this dude isn't any better tbh. It was a hard tackle, but he played the ball first and to claim a red for that is just idiotic. Wouldn't even surprise me if this dude thinks Agüero didn't even touch Schweinsteiger. Same for Mascherano. Both were extremely lucky not to be sent off.

    To be fair, I don't think the Golden Ball has gone to a player outside the top 4. James was basically out when Colombia lost in the Quarters. That leaves 4 teams with candidates.

    Brazil: LOL.
    Netherlands: Robben could've gotten it - but I don't see him more impressive than Messi, even though he ran (and dived) 10X more.
    Germany: Mueller? Nah. Neuer was probably my pick.
    Argentina: Messi should've been the runner-up to Neuer.
