You can't possibly be that naive.
That's a good problem to have. Injury insurance as well
You can't possibly be that naive.
I don't think you're far off. Although the per-game averages could be a bit higher with Gasol and Duncan DNP-Old's thrown in.![]()
Did you forget Pau already tried to play with Dwight and how that went?
Getting Pau would mean no more Bonner and no more Bonner would make me celebrate like we've won #6
Yes, I did forget about that.
Bad fit defensively, but he's an upgrade over Bonner, Ayres, and Baynes tbqh. And he's a ridiculous value at the MLE.
Can't argue with that logic
Pau on the Spurs equals fear in the hearts and minds of the rest of the NBA. Pau is a smart player who's fundamentals are highly underrated, and on the right team where his strengths are accentuated, where other bigs can fortify him... mind boggling.
You spurs fans are so funnyy'all don't want Lebron or Gasol... But want bums like Bertans and Ayres

The fact that he's putting the Spurs as a front runner despite how little money they have to offer AND the fact that he knows he's competing with Diaw and Splitter for minutes speaks volumes about where his head is at. The Lakers offered him around-or-more than $10 mil a year in two separate deals and he rejected both. He's close to taking far less money and playing time to help anchor a le contender. No further questions.
Pau stinks. Tell him to go himself.

Pop's signing was a subtle signal to the league (and PGasol?) that he (Pop) plans to be around after Duncan and Manu are gone. And with the minutes management Pop orchestrates, those two might be around another two years, vice the one most seem to think they are doing in an attempt to repeat for the first time.
So for Gasol, the choice really comes down to $$ or potential les. Assuming he's signing for several years, then at 34, he should be looking for reduced minutes to extend his career on a true le contender. Not $$ from a team that won't be a le contender during the length of the contract.
Can't remember the talking head piece who recently mentioned (or quoted a player?) that Bulls coach (Tom T) runs his players into the ground. PGasol signing with Chicago = not winning any more les before his career is over. With the current champions, he not only joins an international team that is the only perfect fit for his international talents, but he'll play play under 30min/game. All things being =, i.e., no major injuries, it's possible to win 2+ more les over a 4 year contract.
yeah. trying to leverage other teams. give it a break. NBA is a business, and only a place like NY, miami, or LA can attract players for less.
