Talent was there but being a headcase thug, a ballhog and an overly narcissistic prick didn't. Penaldo is at the same talent level (fringe top 5) but his kobe-like dedication/drive has always lifted him ... tbh penaldo is so similar to kobe (less talent than all goats but workrate of a narcissistic psychopath + the chucking mentality of a machine gun shooter), even stans are similar (rangz, selective stats, chucking=alpha).

Unless Ronaldo or Messi embaarssess themselves in the WC, I doubt it matters because of the voting system.

I suppose if one does reach the final then yes it would make a difference. Something like Messi making the final even though real wins the Champions league. Or Egypt going to Quarters and winning Champions league while Messi and Ronaldo dissapoint.
