He is supposed to reprise his role but I don't know what Sony is doing. Seems like they were building towards the sinister six (with Vulture, Tinkerer, Shocker, Mysterio, Charmeleon all appearing in the first two movies)

Having Venom be the villian of Spiderman pushes that back, unless they have him join that group.

It also means that Venom will likely survive his fight with Spider-Man because by the time Spiderman 3 gets released, Venom 2 will have already been released.

I doubt feige greenlights venom in the MCU, it's just Sony trying to set their own universe alongside spider man to piggyback off of spider man. Kinda like how Agents of Shield does it, it's not part of the MCU cause it was Whedon's baby and feige doesn't like it, same with the netflix shows, that's why even though there is crossover they are never even mentioned in the movies themselves.
