Tony prime. Too bad it was for like a couple of months though.
Serious question...
Would a prime Rod Strickland be better with this current Spurs team than a prime Tony Parker.
Talking about their game only and not taking into account Rod's crazy.
Strickland was an excellent passer. Not as quick as Tony but he could certainly get into the paint and finish.
Tony at his prime was probably a better mid range shooter and quicker.

Tony Parker. Strickland was a better playmaker, but Tony has a better all around game.
Strickland tbh
As long as he doesnt attempt a re ed no look pass at the end of a game 7
Oh wait he already did
Didn't really see Strickland play but if he's a better passer I'm all for it.
This offense is severely held back by not having a true passing PG, it's much better than we see, Parker has a load of offensive weapons but he lacks the court vision. Diaw/Manu always make him look like passing wise when they're playing the point. I see sooo many openings Parker could be threading the ball into if he were a better passer, it's frustrating.
better passer or willing passer?
Oh how neat. A backhanded Parker thread.
MVParker and its not even close. Not even in the same dimension.
that wasn't the intent. just to explain...
there's a thread downstairs "Hakeem or Tim"
so I was going to start a thread, "Tony Parker or Rumeal Robinson" (which would have been a backhand slap to Rumeal. I mean Parker.)
for some reason, Rod Strickland came to mind and I thought he'd actually be a pretty good fit. I think he is the player with the most all time assits that isn't in HOF.
Anyway, when he wasn't selfish or crazy, he was a damn good point guard. And a true point guard. But also had a lot of the penetration skills of TP.
Manu or JR Smith?
One will give you bricks, other one will give you turnovers. Pick one
Having seen both many times Parker is better. I will add Strickland was damn good and I hated to see him go at the time. Johnny Moore was probably the third best we ever had.
If bat crazy Strickland wasn't bat crazy I'd still pick TP.
LOL. That's a huge reduction on this thread.
The better question is:
Alvin Robertson or Manu
Robertson is rolling in his grave as I'm typing this
Strickland was a good point guard, but if he was on Parker's level, he would have had the Spurs contending for championships with David Robinson at center. They had a great run that first year though. Should've beat Portland.
The should have at least made a Finals. I really had high hopes for that team back then. Anderson, mings, young Sean Elliott. I don't know how much of that falls on Strickland or if TP would have made a difference.
Strickland killing the Spurms
Robinson fouled out because of him
A bit of both tbh. Parker's court vision is pretty bad, he can usually just make basic passes, passes set up primarily during plays, or off penetration which most guys can do, basically passes created by the system. Would love to see a true passing PG on this team.
Parker never lost a playoff series by throwing a ridiculous at the seminal moment.
(Of course, Parker would never throw any pass at such a moment. )
To be serious, the question is ridiculous -- Parker is a Hall-of-Famer and a winner. Four-time NBA Champion and a Finals MVP.
Strickland is, and always will be, just crazy misunderstood old Rod.
