Great edit of Kendell Jones.
This is a 16 year old kid?
Growth hormones have kicked in way early... Reminders of Greg Oden.
I was watching this Discovery channel thing about Genetic therapy where they genetically modified a hamster to a super muscle bound monster hamster that was like 6x heavier than a normal hamster and had about 6x more muscle mass.
I think someone put some of that mix in his baby formula.
Quotes from Junior Day (Inside Texas):
LB Jeffrey McCulloch (Aldine Davis)
"It's always amazing when I come up here. I got to talk to Malik (Jefferson) for a while, might talk to him more tonight. Malik told me he made a great choice enrolling early at UT. He was explaining to my mother why enrolling early is so important. It's something I've thought about doing but I also want to enjoy my final semester of high school because they say you can never go back. I have thought about playing here with Malik, and how we can bring a championship back to Texas and put the Horns back on the map."
DT Kendell Jones (Killeen Shoemaker)
"I measured 6-foot-4, 364 pounds. Texas is definitely one of the great schools, I mean they are the biggest in this state. It was cool. It was fun talking to coach Strong and his staff. Coach Brick Haley was too excited. He was like 'I have to get this guy'. You can tell he's trustworthy."
CB Eric Cuffee (Waco High)
"Great staff and great facilities. I knew the offer was coming. I sat down with Coach Strong in his office and he told me they will wait however long it takes until I commit. (Texas) feels I have great attributes to the team and that I could be one of those championship guys. They showed lots of love and are definitely high on my list."
RB Trayveon Williams (Houston C.E. King)
"It was really nice to see their traditions. They have a real brotherhood here. I noticed the coaching staff and players have a great relationship. Texas moved up into my top list today. I've always been interested but I had to come visit to see for myself and see where they sit at. They made a jump in my recruitment. I haven't made a decision yet. I'll put it on God and see where he puts it on my heart. I'll be coming back for one of the March practices. Texas doesn't have to prove anything to me (on the field) because I know they are in a rebuilding process with coach Strong."
DE Mark Jackson (Cibolo Steele)
"(Texas) showed me what I need to know bout Texas. They showed me how they want to use me at Fox and that really helps. Texas made a strong impression today. Brick Haley is a really down-to-earth coach. I really enjoyed being around him and he showed me what I need to know about how I can fit in here. Best part of the day was getting comfortable with the coaches and building that relationship. Here it's a family oriented business. Here everybody seems more like family. It's not just you're strictly here to play football like other places."
Poor kid was sweating like a 16 year old over the questions. The dam broke over his huge forehead.
364... And the kid does not look the slightest bit obese... Something is not right.
Update on OL Jean Delance of North Mesquite after receiving a Texas offer (OrangeBloods):
"It happened (Friday) evening," Delance said. "I went to sleep, woke up and my coach had tried to call me. He had been on the phone with coach (Joe) Wickline and they had offered me. I put it out there (Saturday) morning. I had been talking to Wick a lot."
"We have pretty lengthy conversations, usually on the phone for 15-20 minutes," Delance said. "He's just trying to get me to flip. I can't lie, they're doing some big things, getting some big recruits there."
"I know it's a big disappointment to OU fans, but I'm going to think as a person, not as a player yet for OU. I'm taking everything into consideration," Delance said. "I'm going to get to Austin soon."
"I like the whole offensive line, basically. He (Wickline) is trying to build that up, get some young guys in. He hasn't offered a lot of linemen or tackles specifically. He's putting a lot of consideration into who they're looking for," Delance said. "He's trying to get some young talent to come in and help. I like coach Strong too. He's a good guy. I like him already."
"They need some young guys. (Wickline) said he's looking for very specific guys to come in early. He's trying to make a change and get things happening there."
A&M picked up a commitment from TE Zarrian Holcombe of Humble Summer Creek:

I'm not entirely convinced this won't change, but QB Matthew Merrick told OrangeBloods this evening that he won't take offers from other schools like Florida and he'll stick with UT's grayshirt offer. He's still hoping he'll be able to enroll this summer on full scholarship as a member of the 2015 class.
DT Kendell Jones of Killeen Shoemaker talks about Texas' Junior Day (OrangeBloods):
"It was fun, talking to coach (Charlie) Strong and all the other coaches, the strength coach (Pat Moorer) especially too," Jones said. "It was cool. I liked it."
"(Haley is) like 'I've got to get this guy. If I don't get this guy I'll be disappointed,'" Jones said. "I like him. He's trustworthy, responsible."
"It was a good experience, especially with my teammate here. Texas is one of the good schools around. It's the biggest school in Texas anyway."
"I don't have my ultra-rankings yet. My options are still open to each and every college," Jones said. "It's a slow process."
"I couldn't say," he said. "There are so many colleges, so many things on those colleges you can look for, it's a hard decision. You have to think really long and hard about it."
Inside Texas mentioned last week that Strong invited all of the players' professors to 5 a.m. workouts:
Coach Wickline told OL Zach Shackelford that Texas wanted to take five or six - most likely six - OL in the 2016 class, per 24/7.
That's a pretty cool idea.
I'm down with that assuming Coach Wick is telling the truth and not being a salesman.
That would also indicate this class is going to be much bigger than we originally thought.
Strong told CB Eric Cuffee that Cuffee and Jared Mayden was Texas' two top CB targets, per 24/7.
Update on QB Shane Buechele and taking on a role as a leader of the 2016 class (OrangeBloods):
"It (Junior Day) was good. It went well," Buechele said about the visit. "I got in about 11 (the event started at about 9) so I didn't get to do much. But I've seen it all. I was glad to be here after committing and finally getting it all done with, hanging out with coach, trying to do some things with the coaches and players. It went well."
"The last couple weeks I started thinking about it. A lot of thinking on my part. There's no place like it, academically and sportswise," Buechele said. "I took that into consideration and there was no other choice than the University of Texas."
"I tried (recruiting). There's nothing I can really do right now. It's kind of on the low. But I'm trying to set a statement right now. In three hours, I did what I could do," Buchele said. "The last couple days I've just been trying to take it in. But for sure the next couple weeks, I'm going to narrow it down to guys that I'm going to try to lure and try to catch them. We'll see."
"I think I'm going to (play both). I'm probably going to graduate early, in the winter time. And then I'm going to try to play baseball as well," Buechele said. "We'll see how it works."
"I've always wanted to try to do both. Every school said I may be able to, but it's the fact that (Texas) said I will be able to. I liked that," Buechele said.
"I'm comfortable with it right now. The last couple days have been a little hectic, a little crazy. But it's come down to earth a little bit and I couldn't be a happier guy right now in the position I'm in," Buechele said.
Would be great if Texas could somehow re-claim the lead they once had.
BASKETBALL RELATED: Jeffborzello: Four-star senior Kobe Eubanks tells ESPN he will be taking an official visit to Texas for their game against Kansas State this weekend.
Thought it was interesting that we're recruiting a Kobe and currently have a Shaquille sitting until he's eligible next year. Kobe and Shaq reunited?
Anyone hearing rumors about Kyler M. leaving early for the MLB draft and skipping college altogether? That might give us an openning on his class of 2016 teammate Little (o-line).
The two most recent scouting reports I saw had Murray as high as top 10 or as low as 29th. If the baseball writers can be trusted, there's a very real possibility that he goes the baseball route.
That possibility was, and is, very much on the table. We should find out more once the summer rolls around.
I'm keeping my eye on A&M's QB recruiting for hints as they may try to grab a JUCO or grad transfer before the season starts.
