HORNSDIGEST: The Longhorns have extended an offer to 2017 four-star offensive tackle Grayson Reed, who is the cousin of former Longhorns defensive end Cedric Reed.

Reed also has offers from Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Boise State, Illinois, and North Texas.

This is what Reed had to tell HD's Jason Higdon on Oct. 25: “The recruiting process has been fun and exciting,” Grayson Reed said. “I worked hard in the offseason, and that hard work is starting to pay off! My family is very supportive in my recruiting process and very excited for me. They will play a big part of my decision on where I will commit later down the road.”
Reed is the sixth offensive lineman Texas has offered in 2017 along with Jack Anderson [Texas Tech commitment], Adrian Ealy, Walker Little, Tyrese Robinson and Austin Deculus.
The younger Reed is a big fan of Texas' head coach.
“I am a big fan of Charlie Strong.,” Reed said. “I like the fact that he's a compe or; I like his drive to be the best and to push his athletes to be the best! Most importantly he cares about his players as young men and teaches them to be leaders! I've been a Longhorn fan since I was a kid. I think the Longhorns are a compe ive big time team that will also show up to compete!”

Update on OL Denzel Okafor of Lewisville (OrangeBloods):

"I'm ready to do it. I just want to buy some gear so everybody knows. I'm ready to do it," Okafor said of a possible commitment. "There's an alum from my school that works for Fox 4 news (DFW). We're trying to get it on TV if we can. If that doesn't work, I may just announce it on Twitter or something. But I want to do it this weekend, maybe even this week."

"I went there (Austin) with my dad. At first I got to meet the team, had a team dinner at the Omni hotel," Okafor said. "I talked to coach (Challie) Strong, coach (Jay) Norvell - most of the coaches really. They talked to me about what they planned to do at the game, what I could get out of going to UT, how they need me and stuff like that."

"Every time coach Strong talks, I just want to go to Texas right then and there. He's a great guy and I like what he's trying to do at Texas. I enjoyed the whole thing."

"He (Charles Omenihu) said it's a great environment and said it's a great place to be," Okafor said. "He said let's come to UT and get it going."

Not sure if I already posted but michigan LBer commit David Reese OV on 12-12. From Farmington, MI and originally committed to Louisville but switched when received a UM offer. Wants to enroll early and was told he would not have that option at Mich so is looking around, also trying to schedule TCU visit and recently visited Neb. Listed at 6-2/235/4.6 and had 148 tackles his senior year.

Wouldn't hold my breath on this one...might not be top coaching destination, but laugh at those who do not believe it is not a top 10 job..

I highly doubt he's on the list of priorities.

If it did get to that point, it would speak to how incredibly unhappy he is and wants a fresh start.

Update on 2017 OL Grayson Reed of Cypress Creek after receiving a UT offer (24/7):

“He (Coach Vaughn) told my coach they were going to offer me, so he told my coach to tell me that I was offered,” Reed explained. “I don’t know. They did it kind of weird. It’s never been done this way. When my coach told me that I was offered, then I contacted Coach Vaughn after that. I was pretty pumped, and he was, too.”

“It’s a big offer," Reed said. "My cousin (Cedric Reed) went there, and I’ve had some family go there. I’ve been there a lot because my cousin played there, so I’ve been a Texas fan a long time, and I like everything about it.”

“It’s a big deal," Reed said. "I’ve had a lot of Texas (fandom) around me. My uncles are big fans. (Cedric) went there. A current player right now, Desmond Jackson, I’m close with him, too. He comes to my house all of the time. I’ve worked out with Donald Hawkins a few times. We have the same trainer. I’ve been around Texas for a while and a lot.”

“I’ll still wait to commit," he said. "I’ll most likely commit going into my senior season.”
