Inside Texas mentioned this morning that A&M is no longer recruiting S Deontay Anderson.
He guys... I don't know if Yall have ever had a chance to see Anderson play in person but I have and my opinion is that this kid is immensely overrated. I went to watch he and Reggie Hemphill in a playoff game this year. Anderson played horribly and I would've normally just thought that that 1 game just had been a uncharacteristicly bad game. But other on lookers, that had been following the team all year, concurred with My opinion that he was playing horribly and they also shed light that the play that He was displaying was consistently his play the entire season. One guy just flat out said that the kid was overrated. I witnessed the guy miss tackles, he showed no aggression, and he had like 2 or 3 touchdown passes thrown on him and 1 towards the end of the game when it was obvious they were gonna try and go deep. He must have gotten this overrated strictly based off of his camp performances and his measurables because the guy does look like a created player out there on the field. One positive thing that was said tho was that he was a really good kid and that you wouldn't have to worry about him getting in trouble. But some good news is that Reggie Hemphill is legit! The kid is a beast and he is actually very underrated in my opinion. He stood out and you could tell that he was a top tier recruit nationally. That linebacker Caromouche or whatever it is is pretty good too. I really don't like speaking negatively on any kid but it was just mind blowing watching Anderson play so subpar knowing that he is rated so high. I just had to speak on it, I had been holding it in for a while. Guess A&M was at the game too.

Two updates from Hamm at 24/7.

    - Jeffrey McCulloch rocking Texas gloves out here now. He's leaning SEC right now but still don't think he's bought into A&M.

    - Yes [A&M have offered WR Devin Duvernay] but he's not heard from A&M. Hearing Texas from people very close to him.

OL Chris Owens have looked good today in Dallas. According to those in attendance, he just had the rep of the day against 5-star DT Rashard Lawrence of Neville (LA.). I really hope Buechele is able to pull Owens in.

Per 24/7, S Brandon Jones of Nacogdoches should be visiting UT at the end of March.

I'd expect it to be that March 28th date.

That's one way to keep them from flipping.

Any ideas on attrition candidates? Anyone not getting with the program?

Some quick notes from "The Opening" regional in Dallas yesterday (24/7):

-OL Jean Delance (North Mesquite) said he's "50/50" on UT right now and word is A&M leads. This is a recruitment that could take a while.

-WR Devin Duvernay (Sachse) has Texas as one of his favorites and those close to him think UT has the lead.

-ATH Greg Eisworth (South Grand Prairie) says he has solid communication with UT and thinks he could be offered as a DB soon.

-2017 ATH Jeffrey Okudah (South Grand Prairie) is another guy who thinks UT is close to offering.

-S Deontay Anderson (Manvel) says his interest in UT is "extremely high." A&M may be backing off.

-Texas appears to be the frontrunner for both DT Kendell Jones (Killeen Shoemaker) and DE/LB Erick Fowler (Manor).

-LB Jeffrey McCulloch (Aldine Davis) wants to make a decision this summer and Texas is one of his favorites, but he returned from his trip to Alabama saying he favors playing in the SEC.

-Surprisingly, OL Chris Owens (Arlington Lamar) says he's unsure of how he currently feels about Texas, but plans to visit campus soon.

-S Eric Monroe (Galena Park North Shore) has Baylor in the lead, but will be in Austin soon.

-TE Kaden Smith (Flower Mound Marcus) claims he attended UT's Junior Day on February 28th and had a meeting with Strong. Alabama and Stanford are still the favorites.

-DE/LB Alton Robinson (Converse Judson) says he grew up a Texas fan and an offer would change his recruitment.

-RB Brandon Stephens (Plano) mentioned the UT staff wants to take two or three RBs for 2016.

-RB Trayveon Williams (Houston C.E. King) says he wants to stay in-state for college leaving A&M, TCU and UT as the favorites.

Quotes from OL Jean Delance of North Mesquite (24/7):

“Right now, I’m pretty open to any schools,” Delance said. “I’m just trying to learn more about them and see what offers come my way. I’m really liking Texas A&M and TCU. But really, I’m free game.”

“I’m trying to build a better relationship with Coach (Joe) Wickline and Coach (Charlie) Strong. I feel like I need to get to know them a little bit better,” Delance said. “But at the same time, I know what Coach Strong is about, and he’s building a strong program down there.”

“My interest in Texas is about a 50/50 level. I’m still not sure how I feel about them,” Delance said. “Like I said, I still need to talk to the coaching staff more.”

“What I really want is early playing time. I know that’s not a promise because when you get to the next level, only you can determine that,” Delance said. “But I want the (Texas coaching staff) to tell me that they really need my help on the offensive line. That's what I need to go down and talk to them about.”

More on OL Greg Little from 24/7...there are mixed reviews from those close to him on his commitment to A&M. Not that they disapprove of A&M necessarily, but that he committed too early and think he should see other programs. One of those is his cousin, former NFL defensive lineman Shaun Smith, who is considered to have the biggest influence over his recruitment. The good news for Texas fans is Smith played under Strong at South Carolina and plans on taking Little to Austin in the future. The chances of him flipping to UT down the line are basically nil at this point, but the word going around "The Opening" camp in Arlington yesterday was that Little's commitment is soft and he's open to other schools.

DT Kendell Jones of Killeen Shoemaker talks about where things stand with Texas (24/7):

“I don’t want to make a final decision until National Signing Day, but I do really like Texas,” Jones said. “I like the program, I like the academics, I like the way they play defense and I like the coaching. It’s just a really cool program. I like everything about it.”

“I really enjoyed it (Texas Junior Day). I had a lot of fun up there just seeing the campus and the facilities and learning more about the NCAA rules," Jones said. “My favorite part was the position meetings. The coaches were acting up and being funny. It’s just a really cool place.”

Update on DE/LB Erick Fowler of Manor (24/7):

“Man, Texas was such a huge offer for me. I was really excited when they offered me and so was my family,” Fowler said. “I’m not going to come out and name Texas my favorite school right now, but I will say they are definitely one of my top schools. Definitely.”

“Texas surprised me when I went down their for junior day. I didn’t think Texas was doing it big like that,” Fowler said. “I didn’t know how family based they were. I talk to Coach (Vance) Bedford all the time, but it was great to meet the entire coaching staff. Family is big for me, and Texas provides that for me.”

“Education, man. If you get a degree from Texas, you can do what ever you want to do,” Fowler said. “A degree from there will set you up for life.”

A lot of people have claimed for years this guy is a dirty recruiter (going back to his SMU days) and a reason why UCLA is having success in Texas:
