He is crazy fast, I think he can handle the muscle but that is definitely a lot.
Holy lard and muscle. He's a freshman...
He better be able to move. I needs my college linebackers fast and furious in the Big 12.
And yet we still need fatguys.
He is crazy fast, I think he can handle the muscle but that is definitely a lot.
I wouldn't worry about it, he is going to lose most of it during 2-a-days. It always happens. As his body hardens he will probably settle in around 250 with the speed of a receiver. I see him a lot like Lamar Lathan. He was a bad ass linebacker for the Houston Oilers/ Tennessee ans back in the 90's. He ran a 4.5 40 and was about 255 lbs. Only Malik is instinctive also. Best linebacker to come out of Texas since Derek Johnson. We are lucky to have him for the next 3 years.
Beating a dead horse, I know, but interesting read about Saban/Texas nonetheless.

2017 S Isaiah Pryor of Lawrenceville, GA has committed to Ohio State.
Hilarious. At least he gave us a chance.
Quotes from WR Tren'Davian son of Navasota (OrangeBloods):
"It was a big decision going to my senior season. I'm only going for half a year this year, so it was big on my part, now I only have to foucs on my season. I don't have to worry about waking up early after game to take (recruiting) trips. It's good for me. I'm glad I made the decision."
"Recruiting was kind of getting tiring. I'm not into all the recruiting stuff, not big on interviews, so it was kind of taking a toll on me. For me, I actually committed two weeks earlier than I planned, but I felt so comfortable with coach (Charlie) Strong that I went ahead and committed."
"I visited, went in the spring for Texas Relays. I've always kept in contact with coach Strong on the phone. He had me call him every week, just building the relationship with him. I just like what he brings to the table. It's not all about football, it's about life with him, getting you better as a person, an athlete, that's what I look forward to."
"He just doesn't want you out there doing crazy stuff. You don't go to college just to party all the time. It's basically a job, that's what I need to. I like to have fun, but you need to take things seriously and he'll help with that. Really, it was just being comfortable overall, trusting the process with coach Strong."
"I can bring big dimensions. What coach Strong has said, they're kind of missing big playmakers. I think I can bring that to the table," son said. "I look forward to doing that every game."
"Get ready for the dynasty to come back," son said.
Lol @ Bruce Feldman trying to get extra hits by putting Michigan in the photo instead of MICHIGAN STATE.
OrangeBloods reporting DT Du'Vonta Lampkin has had his appeal to the NCAA denied.
He will now have to wait on UT to officially deny him admission, which will be after August 26th (first day of classes).
Wow. A tiny part of me wants to feel bad for the kid and shame on whoever was -- or wasn't -- advising him. Hopefully he can correct his behavior and still make something of his opportunity to attend school for free.
I'm glad the NCAA stuck to their guns and denied the appeal. I can't imagine what sort of recruiting debacle this would have set had they not.
I really feel bad for the kid, because he has received some bad advise, and poor parenting. I think his mom comes across as caring for her son, but she needs to let him grow up, and be a man.
I like that Texas has stuck to their guns with this, not because I wish ill on this kid, but because he needs grow up and face the consequences of his actions.
Saban coaching us would have been the most difficult... I could not root for a school that is 4 generations deep in my family.
Nick Satan.
Interesting article.
Update on LB Shemar Smith of Miami, FL (OrangeBloods):
"They (Texas) offered me a little while ago. Texas, that's No. 1 right there. I didn't commit yet, but that's on my mind," Smith said. "I'm going to officially visit in September. I've set that up with the coaches. For the Oklahoma State game."
"Sometimes I hit them up, but we have a bond already. Both coaches (Strong and Vaughn) really," Smith said. "They talk about academics, say they can put me in their scheme, a lot of things. They're always talking aboput the defense and how I could play for them - I can rush off the edge, can drop into coverage."
Five-star TE Isaac Nauta de-commits from Florida State:

, not sure if this means anything for UT, but sure as looks good since he just visited...
I'm not getting my hopes up since he visited tcu, baylor, Texas, and LSU in the same weekend. Would be a huge pull though.
May get an official, but he's a Georgia boy.
Fully expect him to stay in that region of the country.
I agree that he will probably stay in Georgia, but I love that part when he said..."but I have decommitted to make sure that I make the best possible decision for my future and becoming a man and developing as a student athlete".
That really sounds like something Charlie Strong may have imprinted on him during their conversation. You never know what will resonate with a recruits these days
Who and when was the last person from Georgia on the team? Just Curious.
Per 24/7, DT Gerald Wilbon of Destrehan, LA says he plans on taking his five official visits, starting with Texas Tech on September 4th.
The main reason this one is worth watching is he really wants to stay at DT, but Texas likes him at OG as well.
He will also see Arizona, ASU and UCF.
"I don't think I'm going to flip my commitment," Wilbon said. "I'm pretty firm on Texas. I'm probably 90 to 95 [percent committed]. It would take a lot to make me decide to go to another school.”
I can't recall a single guy, who contributed on the field, since I've been watching UT football.
Anyone?
I can't think of one, but when was the last time UT got 5 commitments from the state of Florida in one year (3 of which actually made it to campus)? This is a new era.
