The best part of Beisbol is when the fatass batter gets hit in the face by the ball, clasps their face and falls over. Watching the catcher run the away as quickly as possible to avoid being squashed by a 450lb man is always amusing.

I've played all 3 sports (football, basketball, baseball) at a decent enough level, and baseball is the hardest. You can mask a lot of skill deficiencies in the other sports with athleticism, but if you're not naturally blessed with near-superhuman hand-eye coordination, forget about playing baseball at a high level. I can go out to the gym, warm up, and easily hit a few threes in a row. If I go to the batting cages right now and try to hit even an 80 mph fastball, I'll whiff on every pitch, And forget about pitching. My arm would probably explode if I tried to throw anything faster than 75.

Basically, you can go years without playing basketball and jump on the court and still be able to make some shots, layups, and if you can get your conditioning up, play pick up. You take more than a couple years off from baseball, and you'll look like a spastic trying to play it again.
I agree, I always had a harder time with baseball - however, that doesn't change the fact that baseball is a boring, ty sport. Maybe I would have tried harder with baseball if I had actually cared about playing it.

There's nothing harder in sports than recognizing a changeup from a fastball within 0.2 seconds. Best hitters in the game are able to do that. And like Mid said anyone can make jumpers but I seriously doubt they can even tell a 50 mph curveball from a fastball at 60

Agree. I've always been pretty decent in basketball, football and soccer but struggle to hit even 50 mph fastballs at batting cages. Still, it's a skill more than anything just like swinging a golf club. Anything that requires minimal running/movement can't and shouldn't be considered a real sport tbh.

I agree with Mid that baseball is by far the most difficult, and it's not even close, tbh..

However, as Fkla said, it's more of a skill/activity like golf is, it's not impressive from an athleticism/sports perspective..

Fat basketball players like Lowry and Paul Pierce(or soccer players like Brazilian Ronaldo) still have to possess serious athleticism to keep up in a league full of superhuman athletes..in baseball, you can play 1B or DH or Pitcher and possess virtually no athleticism/speed..guys like Jim Thome, Mo Vaughn, Bartolo Colon, etc..

This was true of baseball in the steroid era where HRs dominated, but the game has totally changed since and teams like the Royals and Giants were a testament to it. Defense and speed are becoming more valuable again since pitching is dominating hitting. The Royals have a very athletic team, especially in the outfield. They don't hit for any power and almost won the World Series. This is the new era in baseball. Without good defense, teams won't be able to win anything.

This. On the other hand, someone has to be in tip top shape to play soccer. It's just that no one gives a until the World Cup or Olympics. Hand eye coordination in baseball is essential, along with bat speed.

In chess, you have the players at the top of their game spend countless hours studying positions, opening lines, opponents, etc. Games at top-level tournaments are incredible displays of skill and talent, reading and reacting to threats that won't even be apparent until several more moves are played. Can't hit a 75 mph fastball? Try seeing that combination that will force you to lose your knight on c6 to avoid checkmate...8 moves in advance.

    Still boring as to watch.

There's some great athletes in baseball but how often do they display it? Maybe the couple of times the ball is hit towards them or the couple of times they get on base. Otherwise they're stationary/sitting on the bench 95% of the time. I like baseball I just don't think it has the same physical demands as the other major sports.

Look at all the 3rd world countries and tell me what their #1 sport is...that says it all.
Isn't the Dominican Republic the main provider of baseball players per capita? There's also Cuba, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Mexico and a couple other Central American countries that produce a bunch of MLB players.

Billions of people give a before/after the WC or Olympics actually.

I heard a stat today that an entire game of baseball only features 9 minutes of actual action, tbh..

They need to do something about the length of this ..if the game takes 9 minutes to play, it shouldn't take 4 hours for the result..

Povertyball, on the other hand, features 0 minutes of action. Plenty of running around and flopping, though.

But, but, no commercial breaks! Yeah, instead they have extremely distracting ad boards all around the field and uniforms that look like NASCAR firesuits with all the ads

5 minute commercial break after every pitch to give the fatasses at base time to suck wind
