Spurs should try the "take away close". That, as you probably all know, is when you force someone's decision by saying "Hey, if you have doubts, this probably isn't right for you so we'll move on." The theory is, if he lets you move on you wouldn't have made the deal anyway, and if he doesn't let it go, you now have leverage and can get the issues ironed out and the deal closed.
