Why?

This may have been said, but I think he is planning on signing with the Spurs for the short term only. I think part of the reason for the meetings is to gauge where each team is going to be in one to two years. Most people are still reporting that he is leaning toward SA, yet he still met with Riley and the Lakers again. I think he is going to play a year or two with Duncan and then try and sign elsewhere.

Just my opinion of course. And honestly, I wouldn't mind renting LMA for Timmy's last year or two.

Very few players who get a taste of the Spurs life really want to play elsewhere. Sometimes business makes it inevitable, but its rare. I think once LaMarcus is inhouse, he'll stay inhouse.

But I don't doubt Riley, who is capped out, and wants a backup plan if his pursuit of Durant next year fails, mentioned to LaMarcus many times the scenario you mentioned. Come to Miami in a year or two. Now is the time he can talk such plans without it being "tampering".

I don't get where some of you are coming from with this.Timmy has been guarding the bigger, slower guys for years. During the '14 le run Splitter/Diaw guarded Dirk, LMA, Ibaka, Bosh. This year they guarded Griffin. All PFs.
