same source that informed me of our interest in Aron Baynes a couple of years ago have said we have some interest in this guy. Timing is right now.
Ryan Broekhoff
Position: SG/SF
Height: 6'7 (2.01 m)
Weight: 215lbs (91 kgs)
Date of Birth: 08/23/1990
Team: Beşiktaş J.K. (Turkey)
Origin: Australia
DX Profile
Wing player who has played internationally for Australia, was a starter at the last World Cup, kid can shoot, handle and pass, will be playing for the Denver Nuggets in summer league. Being a boomer means he would be familiar with the Spurs system so should slot in nicely as an end of the bench wing. Cheap too, might be a nice one to fill the shoes of Bellineli

That Baynes TT thread was fun. I'm surprised they don't have Broekhoff on the SL roster then. Baynes was a mid-year acquisition, so it made sense. This guy seems like he'd be a camp invite at best.
yeah from my info, he had made the decision to come over and do summer league a month or so ago, and at the time he had interest from a couple of teams, but it was decided that Denver was the best fit because they have open slots for shooters right now.
The state of play with the spurs has chanced has changed you would think.
3 boxes ticked for what we like
1 is a who? player
2.is a euro player
3.is an Australian who played under Brown
Well, let's hope this thread gets plenty of burn and that it leads to the same result. Beli's spot should be the easiest one for them to fill, since the SL has no shortage of gunners.
Well the kid can shoot...and has good length and size. Seems to be decently athletic as well. His game actually reminds be a lot of Beli's. We'll see how he plays in the SL. Is Denver playing in the Orlando league?
Nvm...Denver doesn't play until Vegas.
I guess he could be Neal 2.0? Dude shot 50 PERCENT from three in the Eurocup. I'd rather have a three-and-D player take Beli's spot. But instant offense is needed, especially as spot starter if Green has to sit.
Guy was good at Valpo, no surprise he went straight to Turkey. He'll play NBA at some stage, only question is when.
I would have thought we would be all over a 6'7 wing who can shoot it like he can.
He went at 58.3% from 3 during the FIBA world cup
Yep...especially with the Aussie connection already being strong and Pop's unashamed love for gunners.
There is an element of Joe Ingles about him in playing style, though he is more fluent than Joe, but his demeanor is very similar. Which I think is a good thing, I would really like PATFO to continue to keep the continental feel of the locker room with people who are equally good people as they are basketball players.
Im a massive Patty Mills fan, a highlight of my basketball life was playing pick up with him when he was recovering from his hamstring he did in China, but, and I will say, Ryan is the best shooter to come out of Australia since Shane Heal. Does anyone remember Hammer?
Sounds good to me and I haven't even watched any tape. That Aussie national team had some real players, I remember liking delladova a lot and was surprised he wasn't drafted
Excellent shooter. But I'm not going to lie, I'm slightly concerned about that fact that he has no neck.
if he had a neck he would be 6'11!

Says his favorite breakfast food is vegemite, which means he can probably toss a mean salad and not be grossed out by the taste of poopy ass. That skill alone should get him a training camp invite somewhere.
With that said, I would love to have this guy on the team to buffer the loss of Marco, especially compared to other names thrown around these forums...
Denver plays today at 7.

He's been open but these guards on Denver are forcing shots and not passing. Mudiay is a brick machine, freaking gross

Not sure he'll get enough of a chance here. Didn't get many touches, but seemed to have court awareness as far as spacing on offense. Seemed to get lost defensively in transition. Way too small of a sample size to have any real take aways.
Got open on the week side elbow a tonn of times but they kept going strong side iso.
Not sure if he got injured, only played 5 min as a starter:

Denver isn't giving this guy a shot at all. He's stuck with Mudiay, that guy looks awful. Mudiay went 0-5 from 3, just chucking shots
