And Blake's tweets are funny but classless.
This. Unbelievably classless. Do these idiots think people are going to forget this ?

Pretty much. Congrats on getting LMA who wouldn't ever think about pulling this kind of crap.

Curious about the fallout. I see draft picks going to the Mavs plus money. I wonder if en gets any grief. Cuban will have it out for Ballmer. Amazing situation. Feel for Dirk, I really do.
Naw. League can't do anything about this.

Sure can. And will. They need to keep Cuban reasonably happy about this. Teams have been compensated for this sort of thing before.

I can't wait for the first time CP3 yells at DJ during a game. They will all be on thin ice now.

Also - no class at all. It's ok (even if bad business) to change your mind. It's not ok to publicly shame a franchise that legitimately wanted you and that you are screwing over.

The hard fouls on Blake/DJ should be fun.

Who's going to deliver the hard foul? Dirk, Chandler or Matthews? Seriously, I hate the Mavericks - but this is pretty bad.

People already hated the Clips - not just DAL. More people will hate them now.

Most states have laws which can monetarily punish lawyers for filing suits they know or should know with reasonable diligence. Usually called accountability acts. , even ass backward states like Alabama, Mississippi and south Carolina have these laws. I've had opposing counsel drop frivolous suits on several occasions by threatening to file a claim/suit under the accountability rules. They are somewhat akin to the sarbanes-oxley act which holds accountants liable.

The short answer is a lawyer with a scintilla of moral fiber and pride wont get in the habit of filing frivolous suits.
I don't think it's a frivolous suit. Basically it's a contract between two people that involves a third party, the nba. It's like if i said "i'll pay you $500 to paint my fence but only if you buy from my friend Rob" (Rob is the nba) and is on vacation. Before he comes back painter backs out.

This type of case is of no value because there will be other painters. There is only one Deandre Jordan and the contract was time sensitive. The issue of whether the nba can supersede state law may or not be settled, but there may be other issues.

The main reason they won't sue though, is because it's a partnership and the nba won't let one owner sue another in public.

Not a frivolous suit at all, that's silly. I agree the team owners will decide on what to do internally. And Ballmer just became an owner. Terrible move by him. He should have stayed far away.
