is the season ruined because Kyle Anderson sucks. it all.
yeah i don't see anyone that I want our our team this season.....rather go overseas or get some other teams player.

Yeah, I agree. It's just crazy to see how he landed at the best place possible for his skill set yet looks disinterested. Hopefully we will see some motivation/energy soon.
Missed the game. Anyone give me the 3 line summary? Who stood out?
Marcus Smart..
Exactly. His shot has looked off the last 2 games after having been great the first game. But the other aspects of his game are very encouraging. It's very typical for SL players to be incredibly one-dimensional gunners or disinterested in defense. Bertans is out there doing a little bit of everything. Driving, shooting from deep, coming off screens, playmaking and actually trying to be in good defensive position. Hes obviously got a very high BBIQ. Those are the things that I'm seeing and liking. Shooters get hot and go cold. Once the sample size gets larger with more games we can make a fairer judgment on that regard. But the rest of his game looks decently complete. Hes obviously a little limited with just average wingspan and athleticism. He doesn't have much upside and is more or less a finished product (with some assumed growth coming with the usual adjustment period). But even considering that, I think hes an obvious training camp invite and a darkhorse end of the bench roster addition.
Unfortunately he plays for the opposition. Sounds like KA was less than impressive from the posts I'm seeing. I'm beginning to be worried...
Nothing to be concerned about. He's not going to be anything special to the Spurs this season. Makes you wonder if they will pick anyone up as a backup 2/3

This might be the one flaw in the Spurs this season ( there is always something to complain about) and that'll be depth at the 2/3 spot and how stacked we are at PG/PF
Thanks guys. Doesn't sound too thrilling, but, hey its early.![]()
Yup, rather these folks learn what they did wrong early before it is too late.
I think we're actually less stacked at PG this season than last year. With CoJo coming into his own last year we had a lot of depth (but also a big falloff from Parker to balance it a bit...plus the longterm Patty injury).
And it's not like he missed every shot he took in the last two games either (looking at you Cady), as he still knocked down his fare share of jumpers on both nights. It just wasn't the barrage that we saw on the first day. He has a quick, compact, repeatable stroke that I don't see any issue with it not playing at the next level. For all this talk about average athleticism, he's blown by defenders and finished at the rim multiple times in the last two games.
I'm not saying this kid is an all-star...just saying I see a well-rounded player that looks ready to contribute, if called upon, at the next level. Spurs took on Neal and Baynes who were unproven talents and turned them into rotation players. I don't see why people would be dismissing the possibility outright, given the need to replace Beli.
LOTTERY TALENT... I wonder why he fell so far in the draft?
I'm not worried. Defensively he has improved from last year, although he still has plenty of work to do. Turnovers don't concern me yet, quite a few of them would have been nice passes if he was playing with guys who could handle a pass. Plus it's SL and just generally sloppy ball. Biggest concern to me is his shooting %, just really inconsistent. I was hoping to see Kawhi like improvement from the offseason but it hasn't happened. He's not going to be asked to play heavy minutes and be a primery scoring threat. I don't get the criticism that he's not running the offense well, it's the SL...not a lot of good to great going on when everyone else is just chucking bad jumpers every time they touch the ball.
He'll be an end of the bench guy and a project so I don't know why so many are freaking out that he's not completely dominating the SL. Then again those same people are impressed with LJC and Bertans both of which are complete trash.
He's basically going to take Austin Daye's spot in the rotation.
There is no need for an undersized gunner when Patty is on the roster. Marco was able to play w/ Patty b/c he had size to pass as a faux wing player thus wasn't getting posted up by scrubs just like Patty was bullied by Austin Rivers. If Patty/Bertans played together they would get smoked. With the acquisition of McCallum there is really no spot on the roster for another undersized guard.
Based on what I've seen, this guy on Day 1 is a better defender than Marco. I don't care that he gives up an inch or two of height, I've seen him play smarter and more aggressively on that end than Marco ever did. Also, look at McCallum's FG percentages...has never been a great shooter. I see this kid making open shots and smart plays with the summer league squad and can't help but think what he could do while surrounded by much better players that will allow him to operate in space as a catch-and-shoot role player.
While I agree with AFBLUE assessment of Bertans, this is the best case against him making the Spurs team. Belly guarded LeBron, at times. Not well, but he got the assignment. That's a non-starter for Bertans. Just too small for the role on this team. Patty has his role, and he's too small to be a Manu/Belly. Might make another team that doesn't have a Patty?
Already Having contract in Spain...
From what I've seen, none of SA's summer league guys are good enough to make the roster. Which is probably why Pop and RC are taking so long to find another player to fill out the roster before locking up Kawhi and Danny
So pretty much everyone on the summer league team is a pile of . Big surprise. Andat the people who are begging for Fat Head to be on the Spurs, yet he still sucks enormous amounts of .
