Like I said, I'd be shocked if he played much over 10 mpg this coming season. I know he's the "Baynes replacement", but he won't have as big of a role as Baynes did this previous season. Diaw and West will be the first bigs off the bench for the majority of matchups.

Still, this is exactly what we needed. A legitimate center who can give spot minutes against the "true centers" out there like Marc Gasol, Roy Hibbert, DeAndre Jordan, etc. He's most likely going to be much better than anyone we would've found over here for the minimum. He's only 26, so who knows, he could very well end up being a full-time backup center in the future if he adjusts well to the NBA game and the Spurs choose to re-sign him to a multi-year deal.
With Hibbert, Gasol or Adams on the floor, I'm more than confident that Boban give these folks a lot of problems.

Besides... if all he does is keep Duncan fresh during the regular season, he would have done his job.

Probably true. I doubt it would improve your knowledge or evaluation abilities.

I actually see this guy starting whenever Duncan rests to keep the big rotation intact.
    Yep, me too.

Yeah I could see that. I just think this notion (and maybe I'm just misinterpreting people's posts here) that he'll be the full-time backup C and playing a similar role as Baynes last year is a bit misguided. I know he was dominant over in Europe, but I imagine it'll take him time to get used to the NBA + we already have Diaw/West as our 3rd and 4th bigs. I could see him playing 15-20 mpg and being a legitimate backup C in the future, but think that sort of role is unlikely for this upcoming season.

Boban helps to put that no Tavares trade in perspective. The Spurs still should have got a better pick from ATL. Splitter was a major factor in two finals runs.

What amazes me is how coordinated he is for how big he is. He controls himself well and catches the ball high and doesn't bring it down. Not to mention he seems to have great hands in those videos. No bobbles. Yeah, he may be slow, but he runs and hustles a lot faster than some guys in the NBA. I love the signing!!

Damn, great signing. I saw objective hyping him up so I watched a lot of highlights and I was intrigued. He has a damn high ceiling if he keeps improving at his current rate.

This offseason, man. I can't even.

He's going to learn a lot from Tim Duncan! Sheesh.. he could be pretty scary if he picks up some of Duncan's tricks. Tim barely gets off the ground but blocks a ton of shots.

meh, the body tends to these guys past 7'2 with injuries, the NBA game is alot faster so hopefully he can gain some speed to his game and keep from breaking down in the process.

Yeah, Splitter isn't a terrible comparison though he was injured as opposed to less suitable.

Tiago played about 12mpg his first season and started 6 games.

Boban needs a couple of years to get over himself before getting significant playing time tbh

Obvious move, tbh... with Tim and West getting rest through the season and LMA not wanting to play Center, the position was definitely an obvious target.

Great pickup, you can't teach size, tbh

Don't forget that against poor teams with small or weak front lines we can rest Tim and start small ball with Aldridge and West or Diaw. I know LMA hates playing C, but they'll talk him into it against advantageous lineups.

Anybody know if any other NBA teams where interested?
While I'm definitely excited and intrigued- why where no other teams interested?
It's not like he is hard to miss......

Everytime he steps in the court, the announcer should say, "Release the KRAKEN!"

Well if it's a crappy teams giving Marjanovic makes even more sense, but of course the big guy won't be usable in every situation.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had 15-25 DNP-CDs and averaged less than 15 minutes a game. Duncan, Aldridge, West and Diaw equal a lot of minutes, and of course Kawhi smallball and Bonner stretch 4 minutes.

But he'll be there when the spurs need him and call on him.
