Nba players are faster and bigger so they can close the gaps easier which gives him less room to maneuver anyway.

Overall, I think it was an intriguing start for the giant. How he learns to compensate for the higher level of play will be the key to his success.

First of all, if he gets the lob or high pass, he needs to not bring the ball down. No way anyone can get to the ball if it's over his head.
I am really excited to watch him play some more with Diaw, Kyle, and Manu, just in general there are a lot of guys capable of setting him up in that second unit. I saw some of the "wall defense" in last game, where perimeter players just stayed in front of their man, not channeling him specifically to Boban. There were a lot of experimental things that you could see in that second unit to close out the game last Thursday. I really liked what they were doing with him, and see the potential.

Willie Cauley Stein is just a tremendous athlete. I love him so much, he showed not only his athleticism but awareness of where his guys were making good passes from offensive rebounds. He has a lot of potential. Someone did need to box him out. lol

they are not bigger, they are faster and more athletic.

Man "Objective" was spot on about this dude! If he can stay healthy I think he can make a major impact with the second unit. Again props to "Objective" for posting about this guy as a potential Spur. Hope you can come to SA to see your man play

I am a huge fan of him already. I really liked what I saw in his short time on the court. I think those fumbled passes were due to nerves mostly. One of the things in his scouting report was that he had really good hands. I do not expect those fumbled passes to be the standard for him. If he gets the ball anywhere near the basket, it is almost an automatic 2 points. His defense was extremely surprising to me. I didn't think that he would be able to keep up with the speed of the NBA, but he quickly let people know that they cannot attack him at the rim so easily. His length should help him in defending the PnR allowing him to sag a bit further back than most centers to compensate for potential slow feet.

Long story short, this performance made me set the bar a bit higher for him now because he didn't even need to jump to tear down the bar I originally set.

Exactly... that was a bad pass, but at the same time, I fully expected Boban to catch it. There were worse passes he caught in Euroball. I really think it was just nerves.

The pass from Jimmer wasn't fumbled out of bounds carelessly like Ayres. It was a great play by WCS who knocked it out of his hands and off Boban's body. Yes, Boban should have been stronger with the grip, but at least he wasn't losing it for no reason.

He moved better than I remember, and that's coming off a relatively short time of practice clearance where he probably still isn't in great basketball shape. It kind of makes me wonder how long he was playing through the foot pain. I remember it being reported as being a playoff thing, but maybe it had earlier origins.

Still a liability on defense on pick and rolls. Needs to set better picks. Needs to get used to hire NBA refs call games. Needs to work on boxing out. But overall I'm overall pretty happy,

And you should be happy. That was a great call by you. Even if Dangubic never comes over, that trade has paid dividends.

I see Boban + Kyle Anderson will be a nice combination in offense and in defence. If Kyle works on his drives, pairing him with Boban will make them really dangerous

Really think this is Anderson's block. Ball's moving to the side before Boban even gets his arm extended.

Good call! I love seeing KA get after it defensively, really liking this kids chances to be an impact player sooner rather than later. Especially against other benches...

Yeah I am probably most excited about Anderson than any other spur. Including LMAlpha.

He is already top 10 smartest player in the league. Here's to hoping he has a groundbreaking season

Yep. Anderson is a sneaky Mfer. His tempo messes with opponents. I'm excited for him coming off the bench with consistent minutes.

Boban had a rough game. He's a project, and seems like he will need his time. The most concerning is the rebounding.

Yeah...he's not going to do much this season beyond mop up duty and some help on back to backs...and it will likely take a whole season for him to figure it all out(if he does). The Spurs offense relies on fluidity and right now he's just out there thinking too much. The speed issue won't be near as big once he gets a more natural feel of the offense and gets some chemistry developed. Whether or not he can become decisive mentally will make or break him because he sure as isn't getting any faster.

Rebounding is looking more like a concern. He needs to go after it aggressively if he expects to rebound in the NBA. With him being so tall, you know the other NBA players are just itching to go at him and snatch the board away. Aside from that, his defense seems passable. He was thrown in a few PnR situations, but it looked like he handled it better than expected.

He looks like he panics on offense. Perhaps he needs to stop putting so much pressure on himself and just play ing basketball. Dude looks scared when he touches the ball.
