Yep it was a terrible call. It was so blatant too. Becky was giving the ref an earful after that one.
TBH, as well as he played he wasn't featured enough. Dude didn't touch the ball on 2/3 of his offensive possessions and he was playing with the scrubs a lot too. +/- can be a bad indicator...

Doesn't matter. Got Simmons.
Feel like Anderson can check Powell, though. So the Spurs could run with Scott/Simmons/Eddie/Anderson/Atkins and use their speed and driving.
Simmons finishing -9 is a prime example of how +/- can be a bad indicator. Without Simmons stopping the bleeding several times, Spurs lose.
Dallas will be hungry. A Summer League le is probably their ceiling this year afterall.
I will say that this wasn't Simmons' strongest game. That says a lot, considering he dropped 19.
Simmons played a lot with Cherry...and Cherry wasn't really passing much...
Or it could show that Simmons wasn't that effective despite coming up with some clutch possessions. What you said would be like saying FG% was a bad indicator of Rozier's performance because he hit that tying three.
Off tangent, but Smart plays borderline dirty, even in SL games...I think he's going to get a reputation for that sooner or later
I felt like this was one of his better games honestly. He wAs extremely timely.... Especially at the end of the first half when the team was falling apart and the game wAs going to .... He sort of put the team on his back and we rallied.
That's true. Although, there are plenty of factors when it comes to +/-.
The -9 is probably a result of Simmons being on the court when Hunter and them lit it up.
Well that was a good time.
+/- means nothing for 1 game. Nobody should be concerned with that. He penetrates and scores or passes the ball to open players almost every time. It's not like he is ball-stopping and taking away from the others on offense. Perhaps his defense wasn't great but the +/- stat shouldn't be where the discussion starts on that topic.
I agree with the idea that plus-minus isn't an end all be all thing. But I take issue with people saying it's misleading or flawed. It's a basic stat like points or rebounds. It's a fact that when Simmons was on the floor, the Spurs got outscored by 9, and it's a fact that the Spurs outscored Boston by 11 when Jonathan was on the bench. It doesn't mean any more or less than that.
Technically speaking, it means the lineups that included Jonathon were outscored by 9. I think people forget that +/- is really a stat to gauge lineups, not individual production.
so we're playing the Hawks tomorrow
the Celtics and their highlights
6 PM ET...
Thanks had to work overtime today
