the raiders also parted ways with Sio Moore this offseason. probably the new coaching staff doing stupid "i want MY guys" bull
Got ya - guess I was just giving people the benefit of the doubt that they weren't stupid . I was thinking maybe he had off field issues or something in order to give up on him.

On why Oakland let go of Brice...

“It was a deep group,” said Head Coach Jack Del Rio. “We had six receivers we thought were pretty good players coming out of camp. It was a situation where with some of the injuries we had at safety, we were considering what we might do. Dallas was looking for a wide receiver and I think there was a match where they had a position of need, we had a position to get available, so there you have it.” -JDR

Scouting Report says his only flaw is that he is inconsistent; sometimes drops easy passes

    Name: Brice Butler
    Position: WR
    Height: 6-3
    Weight: 205
    College: San Diego State
Draft: 207th overall by Oakland, 2013

Games Studied: 2015 preseason vs. STL, MIN, ARZ, SEA

Report: Brice Butler has all the measureables that scouts look for in a receiver. He’s listed with 4.39 speed coming out of college, but when you watch him play, it takes him a few strides before he is hitting top gear.

I would not call him a sudden player or initially quick, but he can cover some ground once he gets going. He had a nice slant in the Arizona game where he showed a little burst inside against press coverage. Was used on bubble screens out of the slot where he was able to get going once he had the ball in his hands.

He dropped what would have been a sure touchdown on a “stutter- go” against Seattle, where he sold the route well – then was able to gain vertical separation. Showed good body control in that same game against the Seahawks, where he got behind the corner and was able to high-point a ball while getting both feet in bounds. He absolutely had to find space on the play, and he was able to do that.

There are snaps where he plays like he is tall, or too upright, when he is running routes. He’ll almost come to a stop to make a cut or curl back for the ball. He will need work here to be cleaner in his routes. On a similar note, I would like to see him take more of an advantage of his size when running his routes. He gets beaten up going down the field -- needs to fight the defender better.

He turned down a slant against the Seahawks where he took a peek at the safety inside and didn’t finish. He does have an idea of what to do with the ball in his hands. He had a touchdown against St. Louis where he caught an option route underneath and showed a burst into the end zone. He's got some versatility the Cowboys' coaches will value, as the tape shows him having experience to both line up at the "X" -- Dez Bryant's primary position -- as well as in the slot.

For a tall guy, he’s got a knack for making tacklers miss in space. He has talent to be more than just a flash player, but I would like to see him be more consistent with the opportunities that he gets.

when healthy Cowboys WR corps is fine. Williams is a solid #2. I agree with Deeps, Romo helps him look better than he is and I have my doubts about him in a #1 role ...But I think Twill could be one of the better #2's and Beasley is poor man's Edelman in the slot. We just need Street to step up to a #2 role while Dez is out but not sure he is ready for that yet ...

I think my TW is a WR1 on a lot of teams tbh and that's not a homer pov he is a legitimate threat and runs smart routes

Only issue I have with TWill is his body catching. Other than that he can make plays.

how do you need an IV at home in the first half of week one? Was he sick?
He broke his foot on the slant for first down right before the end of the quarter. The next play they sent him deep and he went back to have it checked. Don't know why the PR people said he was dehydrated.

    The Maturation of Romo

Infamous for his failures in the clutch, Tony Romo worked hard to fix careless mistakes and is now changing the narrative.

Cris Collinsworth said exactly what I was thinking as the Cowboys exulted after their second Tony Romo-led touchdown drive in the last six minutes beat the Giants on Sunday night in Texas. “Tony Romo’s taken a lot of heat over the years for not playing in the clutch,” Collinsworth told America on NBC. “That was pretty darn strong.”
The next test for Romo and the Cowboys comes Sunday in Philadelphia. But last Sunday, there were two plays—one on each 70-plus-yard touchdown drive—that showed the maturation of Romo, and why the Cowboys, even without Dez Bryant for probably half the season now, are such a dangerous team.
First, to Collinsworth’s point about Romo. In 2012, Romo had games with five, four, three and two interceptions, and Dallas lost them all on the way to a disappointing 8-8 season. He was a great stat quarterback, but also too careless, and he knew it. Check out how his 2012 season compares to two years and a game since, including two 2014 playoff games:

#2??? Witten is the ultimate #2 receiver for any good team, tight end or not. Beasley is fine in the Welker/Edelman role and we also have Lance Dunbar going out for short passes which he's gotten really good at catching. Those type of plays are usually good for 5-7 yards and are as good as running plays with a star RB because they keep the chains moving and the other team's offense off the field, even though the vast majority don't turn out to be big plays or anything. The Patriots have thrived off these type of plays for 15 years and have won championships with worse defenses and receiving cores than what the Cowboys have, with or without Dez.

Interesting reputation for a guy who's statistically one of the most clutch players in league history.

    these injuries, man.

we're going to have to lean on weeden until romo comes back. fucc tebow and whoever else these fairweather fans are talking about. this is the first time in a long time i haven't been defeated after losing romo. part of it is due to laying the smack down on the eagles and the other part is our team is still pretty good. the defense looks like the real deal, o line still the GOAT and our backs are still making plays.

if we can stay at .500 until romo gets back then we should still be able to win the division.

Weeden is nothing special, but don't sleep on him. I think he (along with our improved D) can't keep us afloat without Tony and Dez for a while. Here's how I see the next 8 weeks going:

    @ Falcons: Loss
    Saints (no Drew Brees): Win
    Patriots: Loss
    @ Giants: Win
    Seahawks: Loss
    Eagles: Win
    @ Bucs: Win
    @ Dolphins: Loss

That'd put us at 6-4 on the season. I could see us losing at N.Y. too though so at worst 5-5. Then hopefully we get Romo back for week 10 against Carolina. Could easily still take the division.

Lol you aren't beating the Giants in new York with no romo and probably no dez. 5-5 at best
