When you pretty much have no shot at making the actual Olympic roster you can't big time the WC. There's players in soccer that get emotional from getting a single call-up for a meaningless friendly, tbh.

Team USA is going to win the gold. All of the en led Prima Donnas stayed home, and these guys will be hungry and ready to win when Pop gets finished with training camp and exhibitions. The players will hear and read nothing but that the best players stayed home and the team probably won't win from the media, and it will ing piss them off and motivate them, and play right into Pop's wheelhouse and bunker 'us against the world' mentality.
