Pop has experience with that!
What a ty group of players.
Pop has experience with that!
Actually it would only be fair if pop could take some euro players on team USA given his history.
he lost the 2004 olympics with nba players including the goat pf tim duncan hes going to get decimated with college players on his roster hes no coach k............budenholzer deserved the team usa coaching job
All these chiflado players avoiding Pop’s discipline.
That's why we never sign any bigtime FA's..pops shtick is old.
He wasn’t the head coach.
Damn so are all these players really bailing on team usa because of pop?
No it’s because the cup is right before training camp. They moved the games to September instead of August. Players don’t have time to rest
Yea,load management is a
So Bradley Beal withdraws. This generation of US basketball players truly suck. Don’t want to compete internationally and don’t want to compete in the NBA.
Sounds like a tidy explanation, but FIBA has become a lot less NBA-friendly recently with its scheduling changes. In large part, this reluctance for American players to play for the USANT is what the changes were for. Now there's a legit chance another team could beat the US. More guys get to represent the US abroad. It's not the worst thing, actually. It would be cool to see more young guys get a shot a tournaments that matter rather than seeing 12 or the 20 best players in the world all on one team dominating.
It’s probably nothing with all of these players withdrawing but you would think many players would be excited about the opportunity to learn from Pop.
Strikes me as odd and it’s probably no disrespect to Pop, but it sure reads that way in terms of optics at the moment.
I don't see it that way. YMMV. It's ennui, weariness of doing this for the last 15 years, starting right after the 2004 debacle. Players were excited to re-claim the mantle as the best back in 2008, but it's much less exciting to keep the le.

NBA stars only want to play in the Olympics. Any other tournament doesn't give them the media attention to justify the injury risk or impact of games tacked onto a full season and the playoffs.
This team should still destroy.
Just the first current odds I found, Odds Sharks:

Thanks for Posting. These players will be very good in international play.
Everybody they invite now looks like somebody's last-ditch prom date. "Ummm… everybody else said no. You wanna go to the dance with me?"
I'm not sure many players see this as an honor anymore. Plus, if they win big everybody yawns. If they get seriously challenged, they catch . And if they happened to get beaten it's a scandal. Not a lot of upside. But it still looks like at least some of it could have to do with Pop's discipline.
