None of this is shocking. All the players want to play in the Olympics. None of them want to play in the qualifying tournaments. It's the same every time they have these qualifying tournaments.
DeRozan has withdrawn as well
Everyone talks nice about him from a far, but no star wants to willingly be in Pop’s plantation. Truth is the truth.

At this point, Pop gonna be rolling out there with GLeaguers and DII players.
Melo just waiting for his phone to ring
This was never a good idea. I mean, Marcus Morris took a dump on poop. Marcus F'N Morris lol
Did Phil ever coach this ?
Wonder how long before Melo breaks down and takes the bag to go play in China? Seems pretty obvious that teams want no part of him.
He could get paid and be like a superstar overseas.
I've been wondering what's going on with these players all quitting on Team USA, and it did cross my mind that maybe they didn't wanna play for Pop.. But I just don't think they wanna waste their time on a FIBA tourney, vs the actual Olympic Games
So that was one of the more interesting “tea leaves” topics discussed here; Derozan not being on the USA roster. Turns out; he was all along.
This is it. The top seven finishers in the World Cup automatically go to the Olympics, so there's virtually no pressure at all.
It really should be a 4 year commitment. After every Olympics invitations go out.
the Olympics. Who cares
Also this. I'd rather send college kids and G-Leaguers who stand a chance of losing but want to be there. I'd actually watch then.
I think the end of the FIBA tournament is also like less than a month away from the start of the Pre-season. With all the injuries and what not, it makes some sense that some of these guys are playing it safe. Apparently the Jazz didn't want Mitc to go, so could be some of that pressure from the teams.
I'm still shocked he's not a Laker yet lol
Who cares about FIBA regular season ball, no one. Glad DeMar will rest/train and not be worn down by October. Last year we saw he was not handling the workload well when we relied on him while Murray and White were out.
We would throw Calipari's squad out there and qualify against CSKA Moscow and the Spanish/Lithuanian B-teams, tbh
“It’s not about winning anyways, all about the culture and camaraderie”
I'm surprised that Aldridge will play. The man is 34 that's a lot of additional mileage for him
He's been to a couple of camps, but has never actually played USMNT ball over a summer.
If only Patty Mills was American. Team USA would have an epic coffee gang.
He is on the Select team, not the National team. So he will participate in the training camp and scrimmage against the World Cup squad.
Still a great honor and opportunity for the young blood

Athletes added to the USA National Team roster and confirmed to participate in the World Cup training camp include NBA standouts Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics), Montrezl Harrell (Los Angeles Clippers), Mason Plumlee (Denver Nuggets), Julius Randle (New York Knicks), Marcus Smart (Boston Celtics) and Thaddeus Young(Chicago Bulls).
It was subsequently announced that five more players have withdrawn from participation in the World Cup compe ion: Jaylen Brown, Montrezl Harrell, Julius Randle, Marcus Smart, and Thaddeus Young. When asked for comment, Mason Plumlee said, "I'm white, and unathletic, and I got nowhere else to go."
