Schroder is knocking on our door.... but I doubt we could get it done, and he's still too young, not ready for the role. Has potential though. Still, its not happening. Wishful thinking.
Let Atlanta figure out how to make Schroder happy. Go for Teague, instead.

Yup. In fact, based on what I saw tonight, I would not be suprised if SA gets off to an 8-2 start which is fantastic.
    Agree.

I just hate the lack of ball movement during the serious waning moments because we CAN iso. This was not Boris butt bumping for the baby hook, these were bad shots.

The Spurs will beat the crap out of some of the lesser teams they play in the next 10 or so games. LMA and Leonard are going to wear teams out down low. OKC could not cover KL. Durant will be a defensive liability if he can't improve his mobility coming off he broken foot.

I think Bobo and David West will work just fine as long as David West doesn't continue to pass up open looks. He is an offensive threat and that's how he needs to be used. The same is true for LaMarcus Aldridge. Too many times tonight he passed up wide open looks to differ just trying to fit into the Spurs way of quick ball movement. Thats something Pop is going to have to deal with though. You cannot expect guys to transition to his way of doing things especially known talent like that. You have to hybrid the entire system so that your newly acquired talent can prosper.
Agree on this, specially on their aggressiveness and knowing the shots they need to take. West didn't have a good game outside of a few good plays. My concern with them is rebounding and rim protection. Patty, Manu and Kyle are not your defensive aces. I thought they were ok individually, but Patty and Manu's man kept giving them the slip and just setting up Kanter. It was open season at the rim with the bench. I seriously would not have mind to have seen a Boban, Bobo, Kyle trio.

Our backcourt has problems on defense too, Tony and Patty are small and inadequate defensively, Manu still makes defensive plays God bless him, but also gets driven by at times, and Kyle I basically consider a rookie bc of his limited experience last year. Its a problem, but when you put Boban in there, he was able to survive with just Kyle and him and all perimeter players.

OKC is tough and we have to keep it in perspective, but Diaw-West are not going to work every time. Some times you will need Boban or just TD or LMA. By the way both TD and LMA had good defensive games overall.

The ball movement will come as guys get used to playing together. LMA will be a good outlet for easy buckets as we go along.

If Oklahoma City plays like that in two months, they're going to get their pushed in. Our new guys barely contributed compared to what they're capable of. You know Donovan knows that.

Durant wasn't exactly a defensive stopper before!

Youre never going to have good rebounding when you go fast and small. I realize Boris and David aren't necessarily small but they are the bigs when your playing small ball. You throw a 7 footer or two in there and now you have a liability on offense as they drag ass back up the court. It slows down your offense. You can't have that. That's why David West needs to get the ball in his spots so he can force the defense to collapse on him and find his shooters.

I hope that is Pop's plan and that it takes hold. Sooner rather than later, hopefully.

Durant did not look that great tonight. Of course KL made him look bad on both ends of the floor for long stretches. I personally think OKC's window will close very soon due to greed and ego from the teams two best players.

You mean sooner than the end of this season? Because Durant is going to go bye-bye in free agency.

They have things to work on but not a bad game. The past couple years the Spurs were the ones playing catch up to OKC, today it looked like OKC was the team doing that for most of the game. The Spurs will get better as the season progresses
we looked better than expected, but okc beat us 3/4 quarters

So you want Parker on Westbrook at the end of the game.

    No. Say no.
You put Danny on Westbrook when he's getting into the lane every freaking time. It doesn't make a difference if they scored the point in the first quarter or 4th quarter, all the points add up to the final score. If anything Westbrook getting into the lane puts them in the bonus EARLY then it's a FT parade thereafter. Motha as act like you get bonus points in the 4th as if it's an arcade game or some shyt.

The bench did pretty well with all 3 of the big man in small ball with Kyle and Rasual. I realize Boban is a rook and Kyle's first time in the rotation, so you don't trust these two, but overall, the bench did very well in small ball with just one big when it wasn't WEst. They were able to get stops defensively and offensively rocked. West wasn't that good in the small ball variations in preseason either TBH.

David west isn't quicker than LMA or Tim on defense. Shyt, Boban can run down the floor as well as him.

And a worse rebounder and lacking in rim protection. Its a problem tbh.

    My summary:

Although the closing execution wasn't the best and the starting line up clearly wasn't playing well together to end the game...
I think Pop left the starting line up out there to gain familiarity in those type of close game situations.

He easily could have put West, Diaw, Manu, Patty, etc out there but stuck with the starting line up.
The bench didn't play the last 5:27 of the game.
The regular season is a process, don't rush it.

    Jabari Young @JabariJYoung
Both Popovich and Ginobili said miscommunication played a big role in tonight's loss #Spurs #Thunder

So you think we get a big lead and then blow it anyway when Westbrook goes ape on Parker at the end of the 4th while Danny is sitting.

Well we just can't win then. There is no solution, the points all add up.

The hope is to stay in the game and win it with D at the end. Which we did and did not do.

You are acting like Danny is going to foul out in the 1st quarter or some shyt. He checked him for long stretches in the 2014 WCF without fouling out. What Pop should have done was play Manu in the 4th for offensive purposes & have him guard Waiters on the other end. Tony was doing nothing on offense & getting picked on by everyone on the floor. At least Manu can handle Westbrook in the post & Patty can ball pressure him.
