From Burton on 24/7 this morning...
Recruiting is poised to take yet another major step forward.
I'm told that multiple high level recruits, players who are currently committed to other programs, have reached out to various Texas coaches in the past 48 hours. Some of these players are committed to both in-state and out-of-state programs.
When I say "multiple", I'm not talking about 2 or 3.
I'm talking in the 10+ range. Some of it has been via text and Twitter and some of it via phone calls directly to the coaches.
And it's not just the players, nor are we talking merely about in-state prospects. Parents have also reached out as well, and so have players from multiple states across the country. In fact, there have been a couple who have reached out that Texas has had no prior contact with at all.
Obviously, Texas can not pursue all of these players and some of them may not be what Texas is looking for at a certain position.
Nonetheless, expect Charlie Strong to keep the same at ude all the way through. Strong likes to get to know the players and parents, watch them through their senior seasons and then recruit them like mad when the time comes.
My guess is we'll likely start to hear more about specific players as soon as this week or next. But I think it's important to reiterate this: it's not just a couple of recruits who took notice of Sunday night's performance, and it's not just in-state recruits either.
If Texas can continue to build on this performance, it's the sort of game that could make Texas an even more national brand and destination for players across the country.
Good news that Hines may re-schedule.
If he's deciding in November, I hope he waits a little longer to make his official visit.
You think they'll go hard after Jimbo again?
Before Saban, LSU was a joke, when Miles took over I thought they reached. But miles brought in a MNC and my first thought was he did it with Saban's recruits. Then he won it again and did so with his recruits.
The guy for the most part knows how to surround himself with excellent coaches, with that said, he hasn't been able to put the right offensive coaches on the field that can get the job done. He kinda reminds me of Mack Brown. The one big difference is that Mack had a huge fall and I don't see LSU ever only winning 4 games in a season. If Miles wins 9 games and they fire him, you can bet other coaches will take note.
Uh he's won one NC le
24/7 reporting LB Anthony Hines has cancelled his official visit this weekend.
He will re-schedule for later in the season.
