Sad.
Apparently Charlie did meet with the media yesterday.
The ebbs and flows of college football.
If Charlie can't get it together, I may be talking to myself in a few months.
Lol.
Beat OU and this place will be hopping
In 3 years since Charlie Strong has become coach at Texas he has replaced all but 2 assistants. 3 games into his 3rd season he has taken over DC duties for one of the last 2 guys.
My guess is, by the end of this season, he will have one remaining assistant from his original staff. Let that sink in for a moment.
If this season produces less than 8 wins, Charlie needs to either quit or should be re-assigned. He just isn't head coaching material. I love the guy and I love the way he has cleaned up the Texas program. He is a witch of a recruiter and he creates great loyalty with his players. But there seems to be times he is asleep at the wheel during games, and it is very apparent his original staff might have been the worst group of assistant coaches ever selected.
Generally, you can measure how good a coach is by how many of his assistants go on to become head coaches themselves. What does that say about Charlie Strong when after three seasons all but one assistant are fired? I'm starting to think Charlie was a blind squirrel finding a nut when he hired B J-M. To Charlie's credit, his new offensive staff looks pretty legit, and Brick seems to have gotten things turned around with the Dline. DBs are a different story as is our defensive play calling.
Charlie doesn't have time to put this program together piece by piece, he needs a working unit now, he needs to understand there is no tomorrow and we have enough rich guys that we can get rid of this staff and bring in a whole new one and not blink an eye.
Question for everyone here. A lot of blame being put on Charlie and Bedford, justifyingly so. If Charlie were to get rid of Bedford, who best fits as the next DC? Anyone out there that can do for the defense what Gilbert has done for the offense?
Who do you expect to show up that is not totally miserable right now?

Ironic that it's actually team defense that wins Heisman trophies for these offensive players.
It's the sole reason why Mahomes won't even sniff an invite
He mad.
3. It’s time for college football to join the 21st century. Coaches need to start practicing the same honest, transparency and accountability they demand from others. And I’m talking about injuries and depth charts. Colorado raised the level of hypocrisy to an art form last week when the Buffaloes released a mock depth chart to poke fun at Jim Harbaugh, who doesn’t release depth charts. Colorado sports information director and associated athletic director Dave Plati included names like Butch Cassidy, Vito Corleone and Elmer Fudd. “I was amazed how something just meant to be funny — not a cheap shot intended at all — went so viral,” Plati told me. “I did air-ball the most obvious one: Forrest Gump at kickoff return.” I wish the Football Writers Association of America could force coaches’ hands and make them publish a responsible, professional depth chart and moreover be upfront about injuries with some degree of honesty. Charlie Strong told us everyone was healthy for the UTEP game. Seven starters were held out. Coaches forget that this is as much about entertainment for the fans as making a dollar. It’s supposed to be amateur athletics.
A few updates on what we'll see against OK State from Inside Texas...
-B. Jones will get the start at safety and we'll see more Vaccaro.
-more 3-4 which includes more Hager.
-Bedford still main play-caller.
OrangeBloods reporting QB Shane Buechele sustained a rib injury on Saturday night against Cal.
Their source used the word "cracked", but he should be able to go against OK State and will wear extra gear.
I tend to agree, as long as they can clear it legally.
I can also see him at Kentucky or Mississippi State.
