Assuming Donovan is in, 2 maybe 3 from what I've heard.
Orangebloods said 3 or 4 last night and Urquidez would be the one left out: Cobbs, Hudson, Donovan, and Martin. OB is actually very positive about Cobbs where none of the other sites are. I tend to go with Higdon on matters like this one. My guess is Hudson, Donovan, and Martin for sure are coming to Texas.
FWIW, Inside Texas thinks the staff has room for at least five new players.
They're expecting a couple of guys, possibly TE Blake Whiteley, to take a medical redshirt before fall camp starts along with the usual attrition we see every year.
Inside Texas also mentioned they believe Urquidez would be the take over Cobb if it came down to it because of a need for OL depth.
When the Baylor players received their releases yesterday, a Texas commitment texted them and said "JP is coming to UT."
OrangeBloods reported last night that OL Xavier Newman of DeSoto is a candidate to flip to Oklahoma soon.
He might be visiting Norman this weekend and could switch his commitment if he receives an offer.
Obviously sucky news, but landing Hudson and Urquidez would more than make up for the potential loss.
Wow, not familiar enough with the roster but how did they fall that short in numbers for 2016? No way were they anticipating this so they left basically 4 slots unfilled at signing date?
Not sure how this is going to work out with the Baylor kids, but a dead period starts on June 27th and runs through July 10th.
If the dead period rules apply in this situation, that means the released players won't be allowed to make any visits until after the 10th.
The players can still call the staff to talk things over, but no face-to-face contact.
Texas' second summer session starts on July 11th.
I'd have to look at my old notes, but I'm almost positive UT was never over the 85-man limit.
They've also had several transfers since Signing Day (Colbert, Echols, Raulerson, Roberson, Roberts, Santos, etc.).
They're currently at 84 with the addition of Duvernay, and that count includes Southall, Fowler and two walk-ons who received scholarships last year (Ashby and Templin).
I'm unsure if the walk-ons will have those scholarships renewed for this year and it sounds like at least one guy will get a medical scholarship due to consecutive knee injuries.
24/7 said earlier in the week they expect at least two more guys to transfer before fall camp which isn't a stretch at all considering there are still a few Mack guys who don't get playing time.
tfis would be a great thing for us. I don't want them visiting any other places. If they base everything off their recruitment that ended in February, we should be in a great place.
It's a waste of time for any fan to try to figure out the numbers or how it might work. The coaches know exactly what their doing and can take all of them if the kid wants to be there and the coaches want them. And I believe you will see them take as many as they can, since it's top skill at pos ions of need and you don't have to recruit and wait until feb 2017 to get them.
As floss said, there are still walk-on scholarships that can be taken back and used. As well as a few transfers from people that have contributed nothing. It's not harsh, that just how it goes. You're given a scholarship to do a certain job and when someone cant hold their end of the deal up then you need to replace them with someone that will. Just like in the workplace. They won't be tossed out to the streets, they will have good landing spots for them.
Are A&M reporters saying this?
yea. They are now saying 50/50, Aggy coaches are speaking to Hudson's mom. Mom set everything up. We still don't know if Hudson wants to go or not. Apparently, everything is set up for an 8pm pick up at Hudson's home.
Apparently A&M and Baylor offered his sister for track and UT hasn't.
Per 24/7, CB Kobe Boyce of Lake Dallas will take an unofficial visit to Iowa this weekend.
24/7 reporting RB Kam Martin will visit Auburn and TCU this weekend.
Orangebloods reporting that Hudson is visiting UT this weekend, per their source.
WR Mannie Netherly of Crosby has committed to LSU.
He was not a fan of the Duvernay commitment.
They're now saying the family is unsure of their plans because Hudson has already used an official visit to UT.
He does have an official remaining to A&M, but he's decided not to use it.
A&M 24/7 said he will have a decision tomorrow.
TE/DE Dayo Odeyingbo of Irving Ranchview has committed to Vanderbilt.
The dude that Hamm would commit to Aggy just four days ago. He also said that Netherly would recommit to Aggy last night.
How about waiting until you have either graduated from the school, or left for the pros, before inking away your body.......these kids today are way too impulsive when it comes to tattoos and social media. Of course social media is a new thing, so hopefully these impulses to talk about every little thing in life will drop off a bit.
It is a nice tattoo though. I am not a fan of tattoos per say, but i do like looking at good ones. It's a shame he has to get it removed.
