I do think he's interesting. Would be awesome to have a defensive PG, but at 23 it's hard to think he has a lot of upside left. Would be nice to get a guy who could eventually start.

Projected at 40 currently. Has great length for his size (6'6.5 wingspan)
He can rebound like a big too. Can't shoot but that could be fixable

marylands Melo Trimble is dropping on some boards. He'd be a solid pg prospect.
We need the cerebral, talented, two way PG of the future ASAP. Ginobili is about to retire so we need to find a new best playmaker. Kyle Anderson wont be able to do it all by himself.
No upside because he is 23? 23 is old now huh?
Yes. Quite old.
He will turn 24 a couple of months into his rookie year. To put that in perspective, by the time Kawhi Leonard turned 24 he had spent 4 years in the league molding his game, won a Finals MVP and signed a max contract. If you are going to draft a 23(soon to be 24) year old, they need to be pretty close to ready to be worth investing time in.
I agree. I'm just saying there is still upside with him. Being 23 didn't mean there isn't upside, I though that was a little short sided on thinking.
Essentially, he'd be about as good as 20-year-old Joseph when he's 24. It's entirely possible that he'll never develop enough to take over for Parker. But even if he does, he'd be like 27-28, is not older.
Must have mistaken this for a 76ers forum.
How do you know he wouldn't be ready by 27 or 28? You got a time travel machine? You quantify everything you say as fact.
but yeah let's just draft 18 year olds because only they have potential and aren't tapped out.
Need someone that can ease the offensive load for leonard when manu retires
Don't be that guy, bro. First, don't be that guy who can't read a sentence (I said he might be ready by 27-28, the point being that that is very old for a first-time starter, not that he would definitely not be). But definitely don't be that guy who runs around trying to get everyone to say "In my opinion" all the time. We know it's our opinions -- we don't have to say it.
PG is tough to learn in the Spurs system. His rook season he would be 24_25 years old and in the dleague working on his shot and bbiq in the Spurs system. He either emerges from that ready to play or he doesn't. Would be 25_26 his 2nd season, by that point he's pretty much the player he will be, maybe add a wrinkle here or there after that, but don't expect big leaps.
A mention is made in draftexpress that he wasn't a strict PG either and has struggled even at the college level running an offense, that his BBiQ is not very high in that regard, makes questionable decisions. Has played as a combo guard of sorts and you can't pull that off in the NBA without a 3 pt shot. There are mentions of him having a loose handle and struggling with his dribble, making a guy with his athletic advantage settle for bad shots and not be as aggressive attacking the basket.
I guess we are picking late and can't be choosy but there is a chance the guy is unplayable given these red flags. If he was younger then for sure nice, but you are 23 in the Ncaa with a loose handle and questionable decision making and no shot? Seems like one of those guys that stands out bc they are a superior athlete to other kids in the ncaa, when that is gone in the NBA could be a major bust.
so what if he is 24. Give him 2-3 years behind Parker.......then he can take over as the starter in his late 20s and give us 8-10 years as a starter as long as he stays healthy.
Want the best PG or SG that has the following:
1. Can dribble the damn ball (No More Green)
2. Good court vision/passer
3. Can create his own shot - quick first step
4. Good outside shooter
5. Athletic can dunk..lol
6. Decent rebounder/defender
As low as we'll be drafting i wouldnt mind adding him, tbh.
My needs are simpler... I want the best PG that has the following:
1. Don't make mistakes
2. Elite defender
He'll be playing with Leonard & LMA so we don't need much more than that (and we won't be getting much more than that without trading up)
Who are we trading to get this guy?
this is who i want. him or tyler ullis. RC please do me a solid here and get GP2
He might be the best option. Flawed player in big ways, but that late in the draft you might hope to just get one good contract worth.
Corey Joseph was very young, mostly unplayable for 2.5 years, still didn't become a starter, and the Spurs couldn't afford to keep him for a second contract. LJC was young and still isn't ready for garbage time in the NBA and might never be.
Als, call me crazy, but ... He doesn't look anything like Gary Payton to me. Boban looks more like he could be related to Payton then this kid.
Dude looked pretty good in the combine games.

9 months older than Kyle Anderson, who most of this board seems ready to give up on.
