Italy has been really average throughout the qualifiers so I think Sweden got a chance to pull off the upset..

As for the Cup itself, I would argue the only defending Champion in the last 40 years that went in as bigger favorite to repeat than this German team is '98 Brazil..Germany are better and deeper team than 4 years ago, and they will be playing in Europe.. Just like the CL, someone will defend the le eventually; it hasn't been done since Brazil in 1962..
