He's more like Jordan from '95-'98 without the great ball handling and athletic ability.
His evolution has been a marvel. First he was about D, rebounding, and steals for dunks. Then he became a catch and shoot three point shooter. And now hes a take it off the dribble, creator. And he uses all of it. Dudes got an iron will.
He's almost there. The belief / trust in his own skills to consistently take over games offensively is the last part, but hes growing into it. It's why I say he needs to play in some blowout regular seasons games where Pop tells him to go get 40.
It has started when none of the big 3 are the top two players in the team and the 3rd best player cab change in a nightly basis and sometimes it's not any o the three either. They are all complementary role players at this point.
He was hiding a lot of stuff I think. Didn't it seem odd he didn't change things up much in those games vs the Warriors? He played all basic lineups and did basic sets all night their last 2 meetings. No reason to show your hand in games that don't matter when you can unleash it later when they aren't prepared for it at all.![]()
This lineup only works if Manu is gonna play under control. No unforced TOs and/or stupid fouls trying to make up for them.
Why don't we just stop comparing him to others and take him as the unique athlete that he is.
At this rate, he should be league MVP next season or possibly the year after. Hopefully he also takes Finals MVP in the same season.
Last night was also the first game ive watched where they focused defense on Kawhi. He got like Kobe/MJ cover.
It legit shut down the Spurs offense for large portions of the game in the 2nd and 3rd.
This makes too much sense for the common fan to grasp. Even longtime Spurs fans, apparently.
If it wasn't painfully obvious that Pop was not tipping his hand to the warriors AT ALL during the regular season, idk what to tell you.
I mean, ing BOBAN was getting legit minutes by the last matchup. And some folks wanna front that we gave 'em our best shot. Blows my ing mind.
happy to have him under contract for the foreseeable future![]()
I mean, I understand it somewhat. It would've been nice to spoil their 73 wins and be 41-0 rather than 40-1, but if we happen to knock them off in the WCF because of it then go on to win a le, that was way more than worth it.
with curry out
OBVIOUSLY, KAWHI IS NOW THE BEST PLAYER IN THE GAME!
