we will give bonner the rest of the cap for his loyalty
They better not just be starting to ing "work on it". They could have stretched his ass last week and saved most of this heartache.
The good thing about many teams wanting Boris is that we may be able to get some kind of pick from him. Maybe Boston.
Call me "grey name" again. That'll really show me.
If that's the case and Tim is retiring...trade Parker
Seriously.
Assume Tim retires (likely): Spurs have their SL taken care of while still having likely reset room next year:
TP/Danny/Kahwi/LMA/Pau - very stout and IMO better than last year's SL. If DG improves back to normal, much better.
Bench:
Murray/Mills/Simmons/Kyle
With SA pursuing cap space (only way to sign Gasol since we know S&T not allowed with Gasol's contract), SA would likely only have 4M + Room Exception + Min contracts to fill the many holes on the bench.
Looking at Manu, Bertans and who else? So many holes and that is the money picture with just Boris moved (gets Spurs to 17M in cap space + Tim stretched which gets SA 3M more in cap space. 20M cap space - 16M for Pau = 4M in cap space + Room Exception + Min deals).
Did Manu ever say he wanted a big payday? Or is everyone just assuming with the cap exploding he will?
Oh, , I just had another sick thought. They could wind up giving away a pick to sweeten a deal to get out of this mess. With the cap going crazy, those picks are more valuable than ever. Damn I hope they aren't mortgaging their future here.
This is just a crap off season.
The only thing to make me feel better would be Parker getting traded away for cap space.
His agent implied it. Practically said it.
Good analysis. So Boban is gone too. We'll be battling with the Warriors for minimum contract guys.
Of course GSW has to find a starting center with no money at all. Wonder if they'll just play small all year with iggy in the starting lineup.
You're God damn right.
If Boris costs them a first when they could have waived and stretched him down to a cap hit of a million ... so stupid.
why we must trade Diaw to sign Gasol?
Since KD is a pussy and TD is retiring, I'm ready to bring all the stashed guys over. LJC, Milutinov, Bertans : BRING THEM ALL and get some freaking youth.
What they are doing with Boris tells me they were surprised by Tim opting in and truly have not known what he was going to do. Which is ok - Tim earned that right.
But I don't think in this market SA will have to give up a pick to dump Boris. If GS didn't have to give anything to dump Bogut, doubt SA does either.
Thanks guys. Yeah, I know the money might be 3 to1 what the Spurs can pay but does Manu really want to end his career in Denver or Milwaukee or (God forbid) Dallas?
Boston should sweep him up to mentor their young guys.
simons hopefully will be much better this year and take manu role
His agent is just doing his job. There's almost no chance Manu suits up for another team if he plays in the NBA next season.
People actually think we'll have to give a pick to trade Boris. Maybe if there was no market for him but according to a couple of the media I read, he has many teams after him. You hope for a bidding war. Can't really take a player back but maybe we can extract a prospect if not a second round pick imo.
did you say the same with lma and durant
Yeah, I'm just seeing negative everywhere. They're going to do what they do, whether I'm following it or not. You guys have a good 4th.
Edit: Just for the record - I haven't seen what kind of shape Boris is in. If he's fat, he's going to be hard to get rid of. If he's back in great shape, we're going to cry about losing him. This whole thing sucks.
