Sanders problem was that he liked basketball but he didn't like all the other stuff that came with it.. He has an interview floating around the net where he talks about his anxiety issues because of it and walked away from the money and the game because he had other interests and invest and saved his cash so he wasn't hurting. Probably didn't like the travel or the high expectations, didn't like being away from family and didn't like that he couldn't do the rec drugs he wanted.

Spurs, are loaded with too many noobs!

Simmons, Dedmon, Murray, Bertans, Jean-Charles, Forbes. You got folks like Manu, Pau, Parker and Aldridge that will sit out games because of old age.

The only players that will be consistently available will be Leonard, Green and Anderson. Anderson was considered a noob last year and he's the only one out of that 3 that can actually pass!!!
    Kyle Anderson is worthless

The pot is not to blame for larry being a head case. Thats on him. Plenty of productive pot heads in our society. Ive practiced law for 15 years. Never affected my ability to perform my job, but i dont roll into court stoned either.

Maybe larry just cant balance the two. I imagine he likes that white lady and thats been his real issue. Cocaine is a uva drug
You speak the truth. I think you may on to something about that white chick.
She's a great, great dancer, but she always leaves you feeling like about it when she's tired.

And yet, all many of us can even think about is dancing with her again.

    Good point, my man.

Meh.. it's his choice.. he didn't grow up playing ball.. That interview talks about him picking up basketball when he was like 16 or 17 because he was a tall dude and he was athletic and picked up on the game. Talks about how it was easy for him to walk away from it because he liked other things before ball so he focused on those.. Some dudes just aren't meant to play regardless of their physical gifts.

I'm sure in a few years if the investments dry up or he gets an itch he will play again and collect a paycheck. I swear if half these physical gifted dudes had the desire that guys like bonner had or some of these other scrubs floating around the league they would be mega stars.

Read an article today that says he wants to play this year. Worth a look if true.

It's a cash grab.. he knows the market.. that's why he said it. If it was like 1 mil yeah but he probably wants half of what whiteside is getting at the very least. The sad thing is some stupid team would give it to him.

That would be a huge risk.

It is for sure but for every smart GM there are those like Cubes who want to make a big splash. My guess would be to get on a team closer to the end of the season or midway through, have some really solid games and then cash in next summer.

So as of now, the Spurs have:

    Starters - Parker / Danny / Kawhi / LMA / Pau (5)

    Bench - Manu / Mills / Simmons / Kyle / Murray / Bertans / Dedmon (7)

That's 3 spots left to fill. If LJC comes over which is likely, that's 2 spots left. Have to imagine SA just goes best player available, but one more big seems like a must if not two (although Forbes may get that last spot).

Pretty successful offseason imo. Better than I expected. I think Pau is a good fit. Nice draft pick that has good upside. Some decent talent on the SL team. Forbes could be something. Now Dedmond. I'm pretty stoked about next season.

Thanks. Gotta have another big. Pau is old, and LMA not young. Injuries/rest and you'll be starting Dedmon or one of Kyle, LJC or Bertans. Might be okay for spot duty, but for a long stint would be tough I think.

I agree, but with who is left I'm not sure you can get anyone you would feel good with anyways. I'm hoping SA gets at least one big, but at this point I do think SA should be looking at getting "assets".

As I mentioned on another thread, with the money Boban just made after a 1 year stint with the Spurs, they might be able to use that example to find a foreign big to come over for a 1 year minimum, knowing that if he does well he could cash in next year with a contract from the Spurs or somewhere else.

Maybe Lorbek will rebound (pun intended) or Bourgois (the Greek league guy, I know I'm spelling it wrong). Or as others have said maybe Scola to go out with Manu. Or some young guy we don't even know about. We'd never even mentioned Boban on this site when the Spurs seemed to sign him out of nowhere last year. RC might have more magic up his sleeve.

Even after the accident he was a great player, I always thought he was the one that got away, worse than losing Scola.

While I think Scola would be cool, after some thought I don't think I want him after all. He could be a fine 12th man, but ...

I just don't trust Pop to keep him on the bench if the matchups will get him killed on defense. Sad, but true.
So true. I agree. Keep Scola away.

Great point. Nows the time to make the jump to the NBA and money next year is the key.
