Cue this thread when Conley torches Parker next season. lol.
M.Gasol are Zebo are fine, but the rest of the team isn't. They had next to no shooting, other than old man Carter and a very inconsistent Green who later got traded. So they heavily play a inside game, with limited outside. All game plans was to rotate off guys like Tony Allen and Matt Barnes. Conley was their second best shooter and teams knew this. Having Leonard and LMA would really open things up, plus Danny Green, Manu etc. I am sure the jump would be noticeable. But again, he offers better defense. I like his game but I feel like his vastly overrated (for his price), and rather a cheaper option like Charmers or something who has size and can/should hit open jumpers. I still feel we can get a cheaper pg who can start, so Tony, Tim, and Manu can play off the bench.
Cue this thread when Conley torches Parker next season. lol.
next best free agent pg is lin. would cost a lot less. if that was a direction the spurs would take i hope he'd be okay with a one year deal.
would still like to get dragic from the heat. but swapping he and parker doesn't clear space for them...
With the Conley report, I think we can all but end Parker being traded talk if it wasn't already squashed by now...
Thank god! Much better free agent point guards on the market next year, and would be easier to get rid of Parker also with an expiring deal.
Just thinking about it the Spurs interest in Conley was probably exploratory. They probably wanted to know if he would take a discount to come here and when he was firm on his price it became "overstated".
Parker is not going anywhere.. Will get another inflated contract..
I seriously doubt it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's brought back for around the $10 million mark for a year or two, which won't be a bad deal with the salary cap going up as it is right now that his salary is hurting us.
Why do you doubt it? Spurs have kept Bonner around for years without any real production.. Parker comes back after next season with a 2/25 deal.. 12 and 12
I seriously doubt he has any type of salary that will impact us in free agency like how he has this upcoming offseason and last year. He will probably retire a Spur unless he requests a trade, which I highly doubt as long as we have Kawhi. I could see him getting a contract like you mentioned which won't be terrible with the salary cap going up.
Conley has been sadly outplayed by Porker during their past 3 meetings:

this talk only makes sense in spurstalk
Just because they're smart enough to not want to Max someone who isn't a franchise player, doesn't mean they're not interested. Conley is the better pg, there's no argument there. He has been a 1St team defensive guard and Has led the league in steals while putting up similar numbers to Parker on a much worse team, where other team's focus on him. No one cares about Parker, he gets wide open shots, and is allowed to drive and is decent at his gimmie stats, but nothing like Conley on the defensive side.
I would like him, Not close to a Max though. A price tag closer to Parker would be more appropriate, as Parker is simply overpaid.
I agree. Conley as a max player is too expensive. Better to get an emerging 6'6" - 6'7" playing like Crabbe or maybe even Batum.
Would love Crabbe on the team.
Funny, because somehow we won 3 other games in that series when Parker was healthy. And it didn't take overtime to do it. They won by 17, 35, & 28 in the other wins with Parker the whole game.
Correction: "Conley will torch Parker the next four seasons" you know the spurs will re-sign Parker and give him a farewell paycheck. Murray won't be a starter until Parker retires.
And those don't even get close to comparing to what Parker does to Conley in the playoffs.
Parker & Conley H2H:
Regular Season:
Parker: 21 wins, 17/6 on 49% in 31.6 MPG
Conley: 5 wins, 15/5 on 47% in 33.4 MPG
Playoffs:
Parker: 6 wins, 22/7 on 49% in 37.9 MPG
Conley: 4 wins, 15/6 on 39% in 38.1 MPG
