    Too bad Thunderbolt isn't optical.

What aren't we doing that yet? A daisychainable fiber I/O? We have the technology!

    Thunderbolt 2 up to 20 Gbit/s. Thunderbolt 3 on the way, at 40 Gbit/sec.

Because there's money to be made from upgrading equipment, cables, connectors, etc.

At the end of the day, twisted pair lanes are fast enough for the transfer requirements of the day, considering you'll have electronics slowing you down on both ends.

    This is true.

Why not make money in five stages instead of two. More money to be made that way.

I have to admit, I am surprised how fast twisted pair is getting.

Now I am looking at a 49" curved monitor. I'm pretty set that I will put one beneath the 55" (or whatever size) 4K TV I have mounted on the wall above my desk. I haven't decided on the brand yet. I will probably bite the bullet on the extra 400 or so to get the higher res version, and I like that there's a built in KV switch so you can run your laptop and desktop with PBP and switch between them.

I'm looking at Samsung (reading some reviews, bad pixels and horrible customer service), LG and Dell. The off brand is off the table. Dell's bezel is a bit too big and the curve isn't extreme enough. Otherwise it's a solid choice I think.

Any experience here with the 49" curved monitor? I will be pushing it with 2 SLI 1080ti.

7680x2160 ultrawide... I basically have 2 4K monitors side by side right now, would love to replace them with a curved UW...

Which one of the sammys UW did you get? Not the super ultra wide one, right?
