I have watched Tim Duncan play since I was 7 years old, and he has been my favorite player ever since. I remember when I was 9 and I had to watch game 5 of the NBA Finals at my aunt and uncle's due to the power being out at my parents, the Spurs won this game to win their first ever championship and Tim Duncan was named Finals MVP. I can remember my father saying "Michael Jordan didn't win Finals MVP this quickly" and I knew I was watching a special player and would witness a special career, but I had no idea just how special it'd be. After 5 championships, 3 Finals MVP's, and 2 MVP's, he has had one of the greatest careers in NBA history and there is no doubt he is a legend. But what's most amazing about him is how he was able to conduct himself on and off the court. He was a true example for kids and young players everywhere, I am so thankful to have had Tim Duncan as a role model. He won with grace and lost with class, and he was the truest epitome of sportsmanship. I'm saddened to see this legendary career come to an end, but I am beyond thankful to have witnesses 19 years of greatness. I know he'll never read this, but thank you Tim Duncan! Thank you for blessing basketball fans with amazing performances for 19 incredible years. The sports world will miss you. Your legend will live on forever.

I remember watching Tim get drafted like it was yesterday
Even better was watching the Spurs win the lottery. I can still hear Russ Granik's voice.

Not only it blows, the fact he's likely going to be in the same HoF class than that clown Kobe is ridiculous.

But perhaps that's how he wanted it, low-key, somebody else getting all the media circus.

I wonder if you're allowed to decline to attend a hall of fame induction? If so, he'll do it. The Kobe slobbering is reason enough to want to avoid it.

Yeah, he kind of played that last game like a guy who knew he had the rest of his life to heal up.

I like it better that he's going in with Kobe, tbh..it's such a sharp contrast in style, it makes for great comparison and discussion..the biggest attention and worst teammate in league history vs. the most humble and unselfish superstar in league history it's a great rivalry, particularly with the fans..

I'm on Twitter checking out comments from other players, but nothing is more annoying than accidentally clicking on a Tweet and seeing the but he played for Pop, Pop made him comments from the casual fans

So many ignorant people that are either too stupid or weren't NBA fans at the time that missed Duncan's peak..it'll always be overlooked by the non-hardcore fans, because it occurred during the dark days of the NBA(as reflected by the ratings)..the numbers-oriented media(fortunately, most new-media falls in this category) and fans understand his dominance during his peak, but a lot of fans and media believe that Duncan was always the player we saw in the 2011-2014 system..

Come on El, it's over. that rivalry is dead.
Tim and Kobe together makes it a truly great HOF class.
Why do you care if some folks will focus more on Kobe?
The best ceremonies have multiple HOf'ers ..
I thought stockton and David did a much better job in their speeches than jordan, despite the hype.

Yup. Part of the reaso why I stay away from reddit and other sites where casuals collide. It's the same thing with Kawhi..apperently he can only score because the team is too good or something so crony and predictable like playing with superstart 38 year olds
