In the context of pedophilia, children and pre-teens are the object of sexual desire for some people... they may never act on it. They may not own any child pornography. But as a society we still rightfully condemn that desire, that choice.
Not really, what we protect is the fact that the children don't have the psychological capacity to even understand a sexual relationship. That's not really an issue with adults.

I hate Cowturd, but he's right about both LeGOAT and Dad Killer.

Just out of curiosity - is the NBA also going to stop trying to break into the Chinese market, a country where gays and lesbians have no protection, no legal recognition, and couldn't even legally have sex until 1997?

(Spoiler alert: they won't, and they won't even acknowledge the hypocrisy. Libcucks like Silver will continue to give them a pass because they aren't part of the Western world that they hate.)

Not sure why he pulled Lebron in the conversation out of no where. If you want to talk about an nba superstar that is tolerant of the lgbtq community, he should have used magic as an example. He was so tolerant that he turned gay himself and had a gay son himself.

What did Lebron do? The man crush with wade and Paul?

Not really, what we protect is the fact that the children don't have the psychological capacity to even understand a sexual relationship. That's not really an issue with adults.
I'm not talking about the children themselves.... I'm talking about the desire of the deviant who is sexually objectifying them. Unless you think it is perfectly fine for an adult to fantasize about children and pre-teens...?

The point I'm making is that as a society, we rightfully condemn even the latter scenario despite the fact that technically it isn't illegal for the deviant to think about those fantasies.

We know it to be wrong. But today's moral anarchists want free-reign on "anything goes"...

So if the LGBT crowd had managed to find proof that "they didn't have a choice on who they sexually desired" because that's how they were wired (genetically speaking) then conceptually it would be wrong to hold their actions against them. --> That same line of reasoning would also absolve pedophiles from societal criticisms of their desires, because again, "they didn't choose to be born with those sexual predispositions and desires". Sure, legal measures could still exist to "protect children" from the reach of pedophiles, but the pedophile would have to be accepted as a normal and valid self-iden y...

Unfortunately for their cause, the FACT remains that SEXUAL DESIRES ARE NOT GENETIC! (as supported by the HGP, data from identical twins, etc...)

So ultimately when LGBTQIA+ adherents use the "discrimination card" for a choice they are making their situation has no equivalence whatsoever with the civil rights or the women's suffrage movements they desperately want to latch on to --> movements based on "who someone is" and not on "what they choose to do".

The fact that society has already caved-in to their false corollaries is absurd.

Meanwhile, the NBA has games in China... promotes the NBA brand relentlessly...

China's government remains an authoritarian one-party state. It places arbitrary curbs on expression, association, assembly, and religion; prohibits independent labor unions and human rights organizations; and maintains Party control over all judicial ins utions.

The government censors the press, the Internet, print publications, and academic research, and justifies human rights abuses as necessary to preserve “social stability.” It carries out involuntary population relocation and rehousing on a massive scale, and enforces highly repressive policies in ethnic minority areas in Tibet, Xinjiang, and Inner Mongolia. China’s education system discriminates against children and young people with disabilities. The government obstructs domestic and international scrutiny of its human rights record, insisting it is "an attempt to destabilize the country."

Activists endure police monitoring, detention, arrest, enforced disappearance, and torture. There is no protection for gays and lesbians against discrimination, and family's that want to have more than the state prescribed number of children are subject to forced abortions.

But the NBA is fine with hosting games in that paradise. Oh what level of hypocrisy...!
    This.

The NBA is full of white collar taking gots,

that would slit their mother's throat

for a few more pennies in profits...

The law is clear that we don't criminalize thoughts. Anybody is free to think whatever they want, and that's a big part of freedom, whether you, me or anybody else find the thoughts morally repugnant. I think we agree on that.

What you're talking about are social moral values, and history has shown they're largely contemporary. They simply change over time, because society isn't static, and likes to evolve and question such artificial rules.

At some point in time, a vast majority of people thought segregation was morally correct and justified too. That women's rightful place was in the kitchen, and away from a voting booth. Or that there was no place for sexuality (despite the fact that it takes two to tango, and really had zero bearing on heterosexuals). And as society moves forward, more of those artificial boundaries are going to be tested over and over again. It's only natural, we humans are wired to always question and test the limits. I don't find anything particularly strange about that.

Most any medical professional today will make the case that pedophiles are mentally sick people (no different than other mentally sick people, like a person with PTSD, etc). The main reason we monitor pedophiles closely, is not because of a moral witch hunt, it's because of the danger that, if they do act on their thoughts, they'll be literally preying on young innocent victims, which require protection. When we're talking about consenting adults though, it's a completely different ballgame.

Maybe for the indoctrinated (especially the religious kind), this is "moral anarchy!", but really, that's their own problem, right?

And all that said, I don't necessarily agree with what the NBA has done in this case. Not because of that nonsense about China (which is a ridiculous point, since almost the entire US lives off of China's cheap goods and love them, which only emboldens their government to abuse their population more and more). But because it's really not fair to the fans, who are the biggest losers here due to the shenanigans of politicos du jour.

Then again, we're talking about Silver here... maybe he thought he would make more money in another city...

This. I live in Charlotte but I like many people down here were against this law. What people don't realize when they say NC supported this law is that its kind of incorrect. It was the crazy Governor who pushed this law against the will of the people. I'm angered about this decision mainly because I was looking forward to all the festivities the ASG game brings and because it was going to be in my city that I wouldn't need to book a hotel. It sucks this decision was made mainly because a bunch of liberal blowhards in California got emotional about this law. I doubt these same people would boycott the NBA and stop going to Warrior games had Silver decided to keep the game in Charlotte.
