0-3 is less than ideal. but we'll get em back of Miller, easy.
Cubs are feeling the sting tonight.
Lester misses quality start by a 1 out. Obviously wasn't his usual sharp self but kudos for keeping it together after that disastrous first.
Tip of the cap to Kluber, made us look foolish all evening. Let's see if Miller can stay hot and follow suit.
Wow ump was gonna call that bases loaded 3-2 a ball on Ross.
Yall think that was a ball?
Cubs blowing chance.
So hard to lay off that slider, good job by Schwarbs but Addy and Rossy gotta do better.
Lindor > the entire Cubs franchise.
Lonnie is Chizzin' on the Cubs, tbh.
Clearly Indians wanna blow their load even earlier than Dodgers blew theirs. And the Cubs are okay with that.
The winner of Game 1 has gone on to win the last six World Series, and 24 of the last 28. Don't think the Indians are "blowing their load," tbh.
Miller with a fairly high pitch count. Doubt he goes again 2morrow. What say u joe?
I'm afraid all streaks must come to an end. Unless I'm mistaken, 24 outta 28 means 4 teams have already done what the Cubs are about to do.
Great game from the Tribe.
That said, the Cubs won a small battle by forcing Miller to throw 53 pitches. The Cubs have to jump all over Bauer tomorrow. He should be rusty not having thrown a full game in like 3 weeks. Obviously can't let the Indians get to Miller with any kind of lead.
Maddon also made a stupid decision batting Schwarb 5th. Guy hasn't seen major league pitching for months and you slot him in at a clean up spot? The decision was odd especially with the Miller factor. You just knew Kyle was going to get a big AB against Miller at some point, and you'd much rather have the righty Baez in that spot. I know he had a double and a key walk, but during the walk, he looked fooled. Naturally the top of the 8th came down to 2 men on/2 outs/Kyle up to bat in a 3 run gameIf Maddon moved Baez up, he's up now in that situation and this game might've been different.
Still like the Cubs in the series. Their starting pitching and bats are better. Tribe is in' scrappy, though.
That they are. Very proud of this club. Tribe needed this game and got it. Great night here in Cleveland- our NBA Championship banner goes up across the street, and our baseball team gets its first World Series opening-game win since 1920.
Kluber was incredible.
Unlike the other CK, he HIT his key spots and had his wipe out pitches working all night.
The movement he gets![]()
In the weeks after the AS break when the Indians were struggling a bit- particularly their other starters- and trying to hold off the Tigers and Royals in the AL Central, Kluber gave them one money performance after another and more than anyone else kept them on track. He is the definition of an ace, the definition of a stopper. This is the type of outing we've come to expect from him.
Spurs and Cubs need to find a balanced way to share the good mojo, tbh.
Went about how I expected. If the Injyuns lose game 2 tomorrow they could be in trouble though; winning at Wrigley will be tough.
And can Bauer pitch at (this) level? I'm not talking about working it out around 3 runs given up. Can he get them into the initial dugout at 0? That's why home court advantage is no biggie in MLB. I'd much rather have firsties, then lasties---especially at this juncture. There is no trust in Bauer, because there is no knowledge. The Cubs are salivating. I'd have bit the booger and went to Tomlin. This is how Roberts got it into the ditch by beholding to Media and the "Idiots Guide to Managing MLB."
I'd have gone with Ryan Merritt myself and saved Bauer for Game 4, but it's tough to question o at this juncture. My guess is they're saving Tomlin for Wrigley because he's shown the ability to hit (6-for-12 lifetime.)
