I'd have gone with Ryan Merritt myself and saved Bauer for Game 4, but it's tough to question ((( o))) at this juncture. My guess is they're saving Tomlin for Wrigley because he's shown the ability to hit (6-for-12 lifetime.)
Why is he referred to as " o" now, Joe? Is that his given name?

I honestly don't know, Cully. Up until a few years ago I don't remember anyone calling him anything other than "Terry." He played briefly for the Tribe when I was a kid and nobody called him " o." Obviously as you know that's his dad's name. It's like everyone started calling him " o" recently for whatever reason.

I remember his father well. Great hitter

Other than the Cubs actually scoring a run, this looks remarkably like Game 1 so far - especially Arrieta melting down and throwing tons of balls with 2 outs in the 1st, like Lester.

3-0 Cubs as run scores from 1st base.
Ruled a triple, was really a double with an error on right fielder.

I don't think Arrieta and pen surrender this but who knows.

Cubs have the series advantage now tbh. Gonna be tough for Cleveland to win one at Wrigley.

Cleveland has been a pretty solid road team. I don't see the Cubs sweeping the 3 Wrigley games. I see this series ending in Cleveland regardless who wins.

Shame he couldn't finish the no-no/shout out. But the pitch count was getting high and he was fairly wild through out the game.

Glad the old Cubs fan Kipnis broke up the no-no. He was playing like a double agent there before that.

Doesn't look like it's going to happen tonight. Save the big bullpen guns for Friday.

GG. We'll settle for a 1-1 split, obviously, after that stinker in game 1. Now time for the boys in blue to take care of business in their home ball park.

Stinker for the Tribe tonight. Just bad baseball all around. They were due for a game like this. Obviously the Cubs deserve a lot of credit.

Also... four hours? It's ridiculous how long these games go. Makes it tough to really get into baseball night in and night out. Postseason is one thing, but watching three-hour and four-hour games in April against the Twins is a tough sell.

    To Chicago we go...

He'll live to regret choosing Bauer this evening. No reason whatsoever for this. Kluber-Tomlin-Kluber. He's falling into that silly that Media pushes (look at the entire 7 game series.) You're to look at 4 victories. Be the first one there. Let Tomlin pitch at home where he'll benefit. If it works you're 3-0 and you can send Bauer out there, Christ, you could send anybody on out there then.

And he's talking about how he was just glad to get that first one, before the second game even started. WTF is wrong with him? Christ, think that, if you must, but, don't say it aloud. And of course Media is just tickled pink with such an utterance. "He's right, you have to have that split. He's accomplished that." When will they ever learn Media is not their ing friend?

Tribe has a mountain to climb, always did, even before the series started. Much like the Dodgers had only one shutdown ace, the Indians only have one, as well. They just need to win Kluber's next start, force it back to Cleveland, and hope tight booty holes do the Cubs in. Tribe is overmatched on paper.

Taking nothing away from Cleveland, but the Cubs don't have many weaknesses.

The dummy couldn't get out of the 1st tonite. No ng way. It was a ing miracle they didn't put up 2 more the he was sending up there.

You have to get into the initial dugout undisturbed. Once that didn't happen the Indians tightened up and started hoping instead of playing.

Yeah. I figured Bauer was primed to get s ed tonight. He hasn't really pitched in about 3 weeks.

Cubs starting rotation is just insanely deep. Lester, Arrieta, Hendricks, and the stalwart Lackey. Tribe had to basically Frankenstein a rotation going into the post-season.

And when the Indians got on early they farted around and wouldn't run. All the fakes, and dances. Just ing GO!!! You can run on the Cubs. Don't wait. You've no time to wait. It will be a miracle if the Cubs come East again. The Indians had their moment (Game 2) and they choose to play it coy and tight. They've nobody to blame but themselves.

I'm not a Trevor Bauer fan either, but the reality is o doesn't have a ton of options. I would've started Ryan Merritt in Game 2 but that wouldn't have been a risk-free choice either. I'm fully behind saving Tomlin for Game 3 in any case because of his bat. Kluber is going to make three starts if this series goes long enough, what else do you want?

Look, this was always going to be an uphill climb. The Cubs have the best team in baseball. The Indians weren't even supposed to get by the Red Sox. o is doing the best he can with the hand he's been dealt. He'll have Tomlin and a fresh bullpen for Game 3. We'll see what happens.

He's looking at 7 games across 10 days. That's standard by-the-book strategy, Joe. You can't do that here. Like you said he doesn't have the horses to line up with Maddon. So, don't line up with him. After 1-0 jump the bas s and try to get to 3-0 so it's over. Not over-over, but, over. Don't look down the line 10 days. Bring Tomlin and if successful right back to Kluber, no matter the day count. Don't look at it as 7-9 at that point. "Just get me to the 5th." Then go tag team Miller/Allen to the end. He relaxed at 1-0, skinnin' & grinnin' with Media carrying water to him. Wrong. He should have poured everything he had into 2 & 3. Take a game off is a mistake, a lethal one for his team. And he' got to run. He's making the same mistake Roberts/Dodgers made. Dancin' around 1st & 2nd, playin' hotsy totsy while the clock is running. But, frankly, his runners ain't prepared. They're constantly returning to base at delivery. They didn't do their homework. That's on him. They had a ing week.

Maddon had no problem cutting Heyward's throat in front of the nation. None at all. It's nothing personal, it's strictly business.

State run Media has Francona duly convinced, 20.

You'd be as well, if you had seen the same scouting tapes he has. The combination of Contreras' cannon and Javy's quick tag is not to be trifled with.
