"If you're dreaming, keep dreaming. Keep working hard towards those goals. Anything is possible if you just keep working hard" Kawhi Leonard Finals MVP 2014
I thought he played well overall. Key word overall. If he doesn't get shots he won't get a rythm, when all is said and done his line looks better than Bertans and there were a lot of things he did that don't show in any stat, like all the passes he made to dudes who got fouled right under the basket and other hockey assists. I think he will settle in and only get better though the season.
Like I said, I hate to bag on Lee bc he's good at what he does, but teams don't do well with him on the floor and a nonspacing big like Dedmon. It's a horrible pairing that is already showing that it can't work even in preseason.
The Pistons game we saw it with Anderson, this time we saw that lineup but with swap Anderson with J.Simms and it was exponentially worse, like seriously horrible.
I don't know how Pop will work things out with the bench but the two nonspacing bigs are a problem together.
Pop is going to give Anderson a ton of chances with starters and spearheading the bench, the beginning of the season. Things will get real in March. I hope he's a net positive, to the max, when that happens.
He has things... they do show. I saw some slick passing, but did they go anywhere, or just look slick?
He can make things happen, but does he make things happen often enough to win?
Those are the questions that will be answered this year.
I think Lee's passing will help. He's good at it and willing to feet Dedmon, and that definitely makes interior play better. Issue is that if Anderson isn't the one running the PnR, his secondary penetration will not work very well. It's definitely something to look forward to.
But I think Anderson clearly had a different mentality once that ideal bench unit moved into the game. He stopped looking to pass or to make the "right play" and instead got to his spots and went to work. You're not going to be able to make great plays often if you don't have a go-to method of scoring, so that's why this game was encouraging. Let him be a chucker for a while before you want him to run anything. With shooters, a roller and Manu, there's plenty of organization to get the team their points.
You don't pay attention to him downstairs. I'm man enough to give props. He's creative and strong. He straight up came at me in this game thread and I had to give him 'spec. He threw all in on a gamble I wasn't completely convinced in.
Strong. I just call everything as I see as I see it. No matter what it says upon myself.
I attended the game tonight and my one takeaway was that Dedmon looked like he can play. Because of the blackout on pre-season games it's my first time to lay eyes on him. Stats wise it was obviously his best game. Saw some good signs from Pau and TP. Kawhi looked disinterested. I have no clue if anyone will fill that 15th spot.
Highlights for those who missed it:
Nice mix of veterans and newcomers.......
Im excited for this coming season, it will be a learning curve for sure.
But if the team gets it (super chemistry) around the all star break, then watch out NBA!
The world spins, and the only ones that get dizzy are the ones dizzy with power, so fight for your rights, because every day they are being taken away.
