I haven't been on NBA twitter this afternoon so I'm not up on the wavier wire.

In any case, with Leprosy/Forbes being signed & Murray being drafted....there is probably no room for a 6'3" guard.

I could only see PATFO going after him if they want to ship out Patty & promote Leprosy to being Porker's primary backup. In that case, GPIII could be the 3rd PG like CoJo.

If it was up to me, I would package Patty/Simmons for a backup wing: http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=gr7b8nv

    Hollinger's Analysis: +33 wins
I would like to have McLemore at that price. I would like to have him sooner rather than later, too. The Spurs' staff might be able to turn him into a bona fide star. The pity is that when the Spurs pried McCallum away from Sactown last season they might have been able to sweeten the deal and acquire McLemore instead. The Kings might go for this deal - heck, toss in a second rounder, if necessary. Unfortunately all of the noodling we do on Spurstalk is not going to have anything other than fantasy impact.

Couldn't have traded Patty last season b/c there was no viable backup, that's the reason the team traded for Ray.

Besides, the Kings had time to be patient w/ McLemore b/c he wasn't an expiring contract & Simmons wasn't a household name yet either.

What cracks me up is people talking about how Simmons doesn't belong in the NBA, and then all the talk about packaging him in a trade for a good player.

You mean no viable backup to Tony if Patty were traded? Then the team might have had to make a second deal.

I'm not sure Simmons is a household name now, but after his splashy SL last summer he probably had no less value than he now has after a full season of floundering for everybody's scouts, tbh.

It makes no sense. It is kind of like al sharpton showing up at a klan rally to do a book signing event.

Ray McCallum landed the 15th roster spot on the Pistons for a few hours before getting waived to make room for Beno Udrih.

I'm not sure the Kings have scouts, tbh. It seems like they sign players based on name recognition. They gave Marco a fat contract, traded for Rudy Gay & signed Rondo/Lawson. Oh yeah, let's bring Matt Barnes into a toxic environment to provide leadership.

I am torn. Should I at the joke or at the organization masquerading as an NBA franchise in Sacramento?

They would have given up a lotto pick for Patty after the 2014 Finals, I'm not sure they care about their draft pick considering Jimmer/Stauskus were traded & McLemore is about to follow their path.

Goodwin is like Murray 3 years from now if he never develops but successfully gains weight and develops an at ude problem.

    This.

It is similar to all the Danny detractors who want him gone but suddenly we can't beat Golden State without him.

Heck I am thinking Simmons can have a career as a bench energy guy with mostly transition scoring like Corey Brewer.

Tough. I feel for Ray Mac...3rd string guards are very vulnerable...

    Oh, , I hadn't heard that.

Beno and the Heat ought to have their asses kicked from the league. Last year, Beno took a ty little buyout from the Heat, to keep them out of the tax, and this year they gave him a payback contract, and immediately waived him. That's a bull manipulation, IMO.

I agree from a league standpount. But from a heat/riley standpoint not a bad move.

Heat/rilwy have taken a big hit from a loyalty perspective this summer and this move slightly mitigates it, especially from a role player's perspective.

To get off topic. I wonder if the spurs signed ljc knowing that he most likely wont make the team but have an understanding that if cut he will agree to stay in the dleague system for two years.

If so, isnt that a way of cir venting the rules and adding a 16th man to the roster who was never going to play these next two years?

If he stays in austin for two years then in my mind that confirms it for me

It's different when the Spurs do it. Like when Brent Barry got "traded" to Seattle. They didn't know he was coming back - it just worked out that way. Really. If we weren't the good guys, they wouldn't let us write the history book.
