Amid lawsuits, Wilbur Ross suddenly recalls who helped push racist changes to U.S. census forms
He had not told the full story, he informed the courts in a “supplemental memorandum.”
Ross said in the letter that he had been considering adding the citizenship question for some time before bringing in the Justice Department.
Ross got the department to “initiate” the request, asking for a letter from Gore that claimed that the question was necessary to enforce the Voting Rights Act.
“My staff and I consulted with Federal governmental components and inquired whether the Department of Justice would support, and if so would request, including of
a citizenship question as consistent with and useful for enforcement of the Voting Rights Act,” Ross wrote.
Freedom of Information Act do ents have shown that
not only did Ross speak with Steve Bannon about this,
but that notorious racist (and current candidate for governor of Kansas) Kris Kobach was also there.

Rachel Maddow Blows The Lid Off Major Voter Suppression Effort In Texas
Rachel Maddow blew the lid off a scandal in Texas that could prevent thousands of students from voting in the midterm elections.
The MSNBC host pointed out a troubling incident in the 10th congressional district of Texas in which
the field director for Democratic candidate Mike Siegel was arrested
for “trying to make sure that local students at the local black college can vote.”
After they arrested the congressional candidate’s field director,
reportedly after confirming with him that he worked for a Democratic campaign specifically,
after they arrested him and they held him and then they finally let him out,
even after they finally let him out,
they kept his phone.
He is the field director for the Democratic congressional candidate in that district, and
the election is less than a month away.
Now local law enforcement has confiscated his phone –
for the crime of handing over a letter trying to make sure that local students at the local black college can vote this time.
Happy 2018.
I know it feels like your TV set should be in black and white as I’m telling this story,
but no, this is us now.

Campaign Worker Arrested After IDing His Candidate As Democrat
Just learned that my field director was arrested while delivering our letter.
He told police he was working for me and the officer asked, “what party is he?”
Now Jacob is under 48 hour investigatory detention in Waller County.”
In the 10th district, there’s a historically black university called Prairie View A&M University.
There’s a long history of the local county government (Waller County) trying to prevent the students there from voting.
There was even a big Supreme Court case about it in 1979.
This year local officials have put a new set of obstacles in the way of the students voting.
A local lawyer was called in and Aronowitz was released a relatively short time later.
But that wasn’t the end of it.
He was charged with a misdemeanor for failing to identify himself to a law enforcement officer –
something Siegel said he heard Aronowitz do prior to being arrested.
His court date, ironically, is November 7th, the day after election day.

What The Is It With Republicans Crapping On Native Americans?
What a cruddy month for Native people and their rights,
as if "Columbus Day" weren't insult enough.
So far, we've had the Republican-dominated Supreme Court taking a dump on Native voting rights in North Dakota, and
some ty Republican idiot in Kansas vowing to
send congressional candidate Sharice Davids "back to the reservation" (at least he resigned).
Now it turns out the month started with
a federal court judge in Texas declaring the Indian Child Welfare Act uncons utional
in a lawsuit brought by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is a Republican.
because you see the law's intent of keeping Native American kids with Native American families is "racist,"
according to the twisted logic of a Republican attorney general.
O'Connor held the law -- put in place in 1978 to curb what tribes considered a longstanding policy of decimating tribes by adopting kids out to white families -- actually violated the Fifth Amendment's guarantee of equal protection.
(It is in fact conforming to one of the UN's definitions of "genocide":
forcibly transferring children of one group to another group.)

Fed DISTRICT judge O'Connor is of course a Repug appointee
maddow blowing anything is ironic. god i can't stand your spam articles daily while you add nothing of substance too. you're just a scared little sissy of the world around you it seems.
Settle down, druggy
On October 5, 2018, O'Connor overturned 250 years of Indian sovereignty law and ruled that the Indian Child Welfare Act was uncons utional.
The ICWA was a 40-year-old landmark piece of legislation protecting tribal children from exploitation, designed to keep Native families together,
and inspired by an attempt to reverse decades of state courts stripping Native children away from Native families.
O'Connor's ruling ignored decades of direct federal government-to-government relationship and precedent
that have upheld tribal sovereignty and the rights of Indian children and families. [4]

In other words you are reaching for racism. It's a "dig at Nike" though. The racism is your biased narrative.

Racism is the basis of American society, and you Repugs are by definition racists. Repug = white male supremacist / nativist.
