White House veteran reveals key to Trumpism:
‘He’s psychologically and emotionally unwell —
and his supporters are too’
Peter Wehner, who served in the Reagan administration and both Bush administrations, explained in a New York Times column
why Republicans are unable to break away from Trump,
despite his escalating violations of cons utional and political norms.
“There’s been so many red lines that have been crossed,” Wehner told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“You know, in the piece I talk about the psychology of accommodation.
That is that people two and a half years ago could never have envisioned themselves to be acolytes of Donald Trump (but) that’s how psychology works.”
Understanding Trump’s hold over the GOP is less about politics than psychology,
“There’s a central thing to think about the Trump presidency, the Rosetta Stone, in a sense, is that
he’s psychologically and emotionally unwell,” Wehner said.
“I think if you don’t understand (that) all that’s unfolded during the course of his presidency doesn’t make sense.
But if you understand that, it does begin to make sense.”
it’s the psychology of his supporters, too, of how they have invested in him early on,” he continued.
“Once they’ve done that, they got to the point
where condemning him would become a condemnation of them,
and they couldn’t really do that.
“It’s not even conservatism anymore, it’s some weird brand of a kind of ethic nationalism.”

Darrin, is there anything you won't do to defend Trump?
I don't gamble. If you keep spamming/trolling I will just ignore it like boot's posts.
Or like you ignore your parents when they put on Maddow in the living room and you have to go into the bedroom where you slide on the headphones on to drown out the sound with some slipknot etc.
I didn't like his tweet. I thought you picked up on that.
and yet you couldn't just leave it at that. You had to make an excuse for him.
Is there anything you won't do to defend him?
Fine. Ignore me. I'm good with that. Nobody told you to quote me in the first place
Anything about Hilary is Trump related. He's obsessed with her more than Bill is

Hazing and a hamster: What happened at the Texas Cowboys retreat the night before UT student's fatal car crash
“Do it! Do it!” they yelled,
forming a circle around a student who was gripping the body of a live hamster.
Then, the man at the center bit off the animal’s head and spit it into a bucket.
This wasn't the first time the Cowboys barbarically killed a hamster in that manner.

Why are you pivoting? Who brought the Harvard lawsuit?
Fox News averaged 2.4 million primetime viewers from 8-11 p.m. ET, while MSNBC averaged 1.5 million, and struggling CNN managed only a smidge over the one million mark.
