Dedmon was also pretty monstrous. Really, if LMA's shot is falling he'd of played a game equally as good as Kawhi.

Yeah, Dedmon was a badass. But that 6 points. I'm happy to have a defensive C who rips down boards and sets picks. But somebody has to score some points. If Dedmon is a single digit guy, and Danny is a single digit guy, someone has to pick up that slack. I like it that David Lee punishes them in the paint, too. Spurs are sadly lacking there.

'Cause he's a pretty damn good defender, tbh.

Hard to complain about Dedmon, tbh. Dedmon and Lee are a bargain compared to LMA. And those guys don't mind being physical.

Lamarcus has been pretty bad with late FT for an over 80% FT shooter overall... Probably all his misses have to be late in games with his %
i agree. TD was a better bet to make his freebies when it mattered the most.

Yes, plus averaging 40+ Q is not the Spurs thing...
    Nope. Especially not lately.

Since you're here now - Kyle played some good minutes tonight. Made a difference in the momentum of the game. He made some plays that gave people an excuse to about him, but that's basketball. All in all, I'd take that game from him every night.

This is not a knock on Dedmon but the Spurs issue without Pau is on offense. Spurs are playing overall very good defense but the LMA/Dedmon pairing not working on offense.

Lee is clearly playing better offensive basketball and you can definitely tell the offense runs better with him in there (especially next to LMA). I'm of the opinion that the offensive need is bigger than defensive and Lee should be starting for now.

Thanks for sharing and the non troll evaluation... much appreciated!!!
I really did miss this one and I am super excstatic they have the win. I don't think the team has any chemistry issues at all. They are too veteran for that and all of the young guys... all of them... are high characters guys. However losing streaks do make tempers flow. I think they had to stem the tide!

He has quick hands for someone with such slow feet.

I'm somewhat puzzled why he gets minutes, but not Murray or Bertans.

How is Dedmon screwing up LMA's spacing?

How is Dedmon screwing up LMA's spacing?
2 main things (again, not his fault, it's just who he is & he's doing what he normally does):

    1. He's typically in/around the paint. LMA really isn't stretching out to 3PT line too often so their men are typically more bunched up than normal. Dedmon likes to finish lobs/around the rim and also likes offensive rebounds so he's hanging around the paint.

    2. Even when Dedmon is further out (like setting the screen) since he has no real threat to score from there or put the ball on the ground, his guys sag off of him pretty much. He's great at rolling to the rim and sucking his man in that way but most of the time with him and TP in there, their men don't have to really respect them.

It leads to spacing issues for LMA and in general and is part of the problem (besides missing good looks) why things look out of sorts on offense with the starters.

They are still getting decent enough looks, but there is a reason why with Pau and Lee the offense looks better

    Thanks.

I'll have to watch some tape. Just seems like LMA likes to pick-pop in those situations.

At the risk of making some people here scream, but Dedmon's Per-36 numbers compare pretty favorably to Tiago's. Tiago got more AST's, but Dedmon gets a LOT more rebounds and more blocks than Tiago did. And Tiago never got more than 24 minutes per game, so it's not like Dedmon's numbers are that skewed by shorter minutes.

In fact, Dedmon's FG% this season is virtually identical to Tiago's best. He just isn't getting as many attempts.

Just one more thing about LMA. When he gets the ball in the post, he RARELY passes the ball back out. Reminds me of Terry mings.

Making excuses for Aldridge missing open shots on "spacing" is almost as bad as blaming last year's post-up heavy offense as to why D-League airballs open shots

Tiago really knew how to move his feet, for a big. Also a great passer (most Euros are). But Dedmon is a much better finisher at the rim. Spurs got a bargain with Dedmon.

Ya - it's a big flaw. Not only has his back to the basket game been clunky, he's been really slow at recognizing doubles. He's shown some improvement but not as much as you would like. His only smooth back to the basket move is that Dirk fade away.

Look at Kyle Anderson for example. He had that post up and slotted it to Lee for an And-1. If LMA would just pick his head up a little earlier it would do wonders. But he's so in his head trying to be robotic with his moves/footwork it's just not happening fast enough.

He really needs more moves (like up and unders, etc..).
