Told all you mother ers that Bogut was a big reason for the success in GS. Those moving screens, rebounding and high PnR were deadly. KD really changed things but you almost have to make that deal if you have if offered.

It's impressive to look at the boxscore and see how empty that Warriors team is. In the meanwhile the Spurs without Leonard, LMA and Parker would still be a middle of the pack team.

People finally starting to realize that Barnes hasn't been a good NBA player for like 5 years, coasting on reputation tbh.

They can go eight deep (KD, Iggy, Curry, Klay, Dray, Livingston, Zaza and West) with Clark or McCaw for spot minutes. That's fairly normal in terms of playoff depth but their frontcourt depth is suspect at best.

If KD were healthy and Dray wound up getting injured in the playoffs, they be in really big trouble. LMA would eat their lunch, assuming he's healthy.

yeah once you get past the warriors' 5 young all star starters, they're pretty thin :/
Who are the 5 all-stars? I know the Warriors have 3 in KD,Klay,Curry and a glorified role player in Draymond masquerading as an all-star.

The Warriors probably have a better starting five than any team in the league, but the game last night between the two benches may show the way that the Spurs could beat them in a series. First assume that all the starters are healthy. If GSW can play their 4 All-Stars plus 1 for 48 minutes, they probably win a Spurs/GSW series.

The Spurs will have to prevent GSW from playing their starting five at full speed for 40+ minutes. We beat Miami in 14 by moving the ball and wearing them down. Our bench is clearly superior to theirs and if we can keep subs uting good fresh rotation players we might be able to wear down their starting five.

The Spurs are second in the league at this point in the season, not because of our incomparable starting five, but because we have guys who can play at a level just below that from the bench. The Spurs are a team that is better than the individual parts. People often say the regular season doesn't mean much, but by the end of the year the best teams are at the top of the standings because they have found a way to win the most games against all compe ors with the available personnel.

Our game plan has to be: 1. Play great defense and run them off the 3pt line. 2. Run them. Use ball movement and speed of transition to try to wear down their starters. 3. Bring our A game from every player. 4. Avoid the most obvious flaws: the absence of LMA and will his offense return; Danny must start hitting 3s and quit handling the ball. ; Simmons must cut down on TOs caused by too much adrenaline.

The 2014 strategy won't work against GS. Miami was getting older, slower and more tired back then. GS wants to play fast on both ends, as their D relies on rotating and gambling more than man-to-man D. You get the best shots you can, give GS the worst shots you can and try to get as many additional shots for your side as possible.

It's basically the Meme Bros (Curry and Thompson) along with Green and Durant. Iggy isn't as solid of a player as he used to be and with the Meme Bros playing cold, it's looking pretty dire for the Warriors. That's what they get for destroying their depth for Durant.

Well, according to 90% of SpursTalk, the Spurs are a 1 man team, so I guess they have SA beat
And Parker isn't really good enough to do that anymore

Well, those instructions certainly make basketball simple. I expect these strategies work on every team the Spurs play. Thanks.

They killed their depth for Durant. They'll have to rebuild on the fly and without a ton of money.
here is the thing...in the playoffs, when forced to, most teams go down to 7/8 man rotation anyways....SO if in the end its the warriors 7 vs our 7 their first 5 are just way to strong for us...unfortunately

Killing your depth kills your versatility. The Warriors are superb at winning one way, but they can only win that way. If they run into a team that gives them problems, do they have the parts to change things around? Killing your depth also puts wear on your players, leading to injuries.

i agree...however they can go KD, green, McGee/Zaza (big) and/or go Iggy, KD, Green and to play small

The dismissal of and overconfidence against the Warriors in this forum is incredible.

Pre-Durant injury, some advanced metrics had them ranked as the greatest team in NBA history. Now they go through a rough stretch in their schedule without their leading scorer and predictably lose some games, and now people are acting like they're less of a threat than the Clippers?

Durant will be back by the playoffs and the Warriors will be favored over the Spurs in a 7-game series even if we do get home court advantage. Sorry to break it to you, but that's the reality.

Advanced metrics mean squat in a league that is composed of mostly abysmal teams. You can't derive anything from it really. The day the Warriors signed Durant and had to get rid of so many other pieces was the day they hurt their Ring chances.
