finished uncharted 1-3... i think the games are decent fun but tbh cant see myself going back and replaying them. the shootouts felt like a chore. the "story" is fine by video game standards but isn't something extraordinary. the characters are basically all one dimensional besides chloe. i really dont get why nathan drake is so heralded... he's not that interesting a character. its basically if bradley cooper starred in national treasure. he's just a mary sue. good looking, witty, funny, smart, hyper-athletic, and basically the greatest warrior/soldier on the face of the planet who has no problem murdering hundreds of people and then laughing off a one liner, and ends up with the girl. there's no deeper story with him to this point.

as far as ps3 les go, i'd put the infamous series > uncharted pretty squarely. uncharted had prettier cutscenes, but thats now how i would evaluate games. gameplay was much better in infamous, combat was significantly more fun, cole mcgrath is a much better character than nathan drake, and the villains were much more compelling in infamous as well. heck, zeke >> sully as a sidekick. oh wow, sully is old witty guy with cigar. all the time. such character.

the "final boss" segments in 1 and 2 were at least interesting. 3 was literally a melee QTE

id have no problem replaying infamous 1 or 2 (already have a few times) dont feel the same way about UC at all

i've heard uncharted 4 is on another level though, and i will definitely get to that at some point.
I grew tired of uncharted 4 pretty quick. All the climbing felt like a chore. Might as well call it a rock climbing simulator.

What's your favorite side quest so far? Have you done the TV producer one?
The one with the at that restaurant right? I don't know how I answered everything correctly on that one, I flat out guessed.

My favorite were prolly the Miracle Johnson side quests. The little spin move with the Spider-Man hand gesture and the bootleg Steven Spielberg.

I also liked the one where you train the chick to be a dominatrix. Man there's so many...did you like fighting Mr. Shakedown?

I always picked the stupid answer in the producer one. So when he asked for an eraseable for the shot I put the rubber eraser on the table or when asked about clearing the shot I started smashing dishes in the scene at the end. Have you done the "Be My Boyfriend" sidequest? That one kills me. Or the Chinese lady in the sexy yob who needed a bizza.

Just started DMC: Devil May Cry definitive edition (PS4 remaster)

completely new to the series. Game looks pretty fun. The visuals are pretty amazing.

tho my gaming will likely slow down considerably from next week through August

Yeah that boyfriend one was funny. Reminds me of the one where you get a date with a lady who writes her number in a public restroom. You end up going to the meetup and run into some hooligans ultimately missing out on the hot chick with the red lapel. I liked shooreh pippi also. But yeah I need to do the pizza one and the porn mag one you also mentioned...

I just always picked the worst response on the boyfriend one. Like when she said to tell her father I was an engineer or something (forgot what) I instead said I make my living as a Yakuza and instead of saying we met at the movies since she's such a film buff I told him I just met her on the street a minute ago. Seeing Majima and Kiryu face palm after saying something stupid kills me in these side quests.

When I bought the PS3, UC2 was the showpiece game for the system, so course that was the first game I played on the system. Friend of mine let me borrow Infamous. Infamous impressed me far more. The Uncharted series is fine for what it is, a tech demo movie-game that is little more than a passive experience, but I, too, am puzzled at the litany of 9s and 10s the series receives from journos and fans, with "best game of..." thrown around liberally. Duck Hunt has deeper gameplay than the entire series combined. Keep in mind I don't dislike the series at all and enjoy it on its own terms, but it's what I'd consider a "veg out" game, even on the hardest difficulties.

i cant consider the combat portions "veg out" moments really... especially when they keep spawning enemies from different areas, often times even behind you. they could get challenging/frustrating for moments until you pick up on the spawn patterns and are better prepared.

but the climbing portions were just tapping x and watching him to do something incredible

and i get that infamous and uncharted might not seem like natural comparisons as infamous has an open word/quest design, but its still fairly linear and its a narrative heavy game with a heavy emphasis on ranged combat and climbing/exploration. it was the first thing i thought of when trying to compare uncharted to another franchise. but infamous 1 and 2 blew uncharted 1-3 out of the water. i havent played UC4 or infamous Second Son (reviews aren't great for that one) yet.

Infamous is far superior because it gives you many more options in how you attack a situation. You can range, you can attack from above off of buildings, you can melee, all legit methods depending on your build/skills. UC basically forces you into duck-and-cover/pop-up-and-shoot style combat 95% of the time. Basic cover shooter mechanics.

I enjoyed Second Son, but it was a bit dumbed down from the previous entries.

infamous 1 and 2 were among my favorite ps3 games. i know you dont really care for story in games, but the kessler plot in infamous 1 was pretty sweet. and the comic/graphic novel style cutscenes were awesome.

i remember when infamous came out, there was a big debate between infamous and prototype which were coming out around the same time. never got around to prototype. have you? was it any good?

Well of course it gives you more options to plan your strategy of attack. You're an overpower superhero basically.

UC and Infamous shouldn't really be compared as they are two completely different games with a different feel to them.

In terms of fun factor and gameplay ability, I too would choose Infamous over Uncharted. There is simply more you can do in Infamous which by deafault makes it a better game.

you have to take UC for what it is, a cliche' B-list movie type action game.

i know they're not natural comparisons, but the whole time i was playing UC i was just thinking its a not as good infamous. they're both still effectively third person shooters (shooting bolts or bullets) where you basically have to kill full on armies of other armed soldiers or weird creatures. both including climbing/platforming sequences. infamous is technically "open world" but the quests are still quite linear like UC. the difference is UC's combat mechanic is cover shooting whereas infamous is more versatile. they both have pretty lousy melee, though the melee in infamous 2 was actually improved and fun, while still rudimentary

but to me, the action sequences in infamous were always fun, i never was bored or felt like it was grind of "oh, here come 15 more bad guys... great...". but UC really started to feel that way.

and calling it a cliche b-list movie type action game is one thing, but the acclaim the series gets is something completely different.

Playing Rage 2. It's fine; feels like a mix of Fallout, Doom, and the Borderlands games but just not as good. I've played like 3 hours already and I'm having fun but it's not blowing me away.

I wanted to get Rage 2 but I heard it's basically Fallout 76: New Dawn supposedly the open world is empty and there's only like 8 missions. I heard the actual gun play is legit though
