, if he was healthy, after this game, I would have started him the rest of the regular season to get him reps for the playoffs and rested both Parker and Mills.

It really is ed for both himself and the team he got injured when he did. It really was/is bad, bad timing.

Thanks. But I am very sad that the Tony/Dijon narrative has come to this end - for the sake of the team.
I wonder if Pop is really looking at Tony objectively...
you know? Not through the eyes of a coach that got him as a teenager and won 4 championships with him and many other RS games and playoff battles. Does Pop really have eyes to objectively see that Tony will not stay healthy often enough or play well enough for him to not be getting his new youngster ready?

We will never really know. I believe he should have... well you know. With Tony missing so many games recently, IF Dijon had been healthy, would he have moved Tony out of the starting lineup, as Deadman eased Pau to the bench? Even failing that, would Dijon have taken most of his minutes? We DO know that Pop closes with Patty most of the time now. So, he does see Tony with some objectivity. With Dijon's injury, though, this season is settled. The real question is about next season. For the first time I think the idea of somehow moving Tony is a decent bet - even if it isn't until the trade deadline. Next season Pop has to see the starting job as Murray's unless he plays himself out of it.

Pop looks defeated in the post game interview. He knows his team is done.

yeah, he was great ... thats annoying, but this should be only happening once in a potential series ... but with Durant back it will not matter anyways

Too much Parker and Ginobili last night. I hope Pop was just experimenting in case Simmons folds come playoffs. I wanted to see Pop put Bertans on Thompson, I think his length will make it tougher for Thompson to shoot.

Idk, Bertans has struggled defensively. Expecting him to run thru screens and chase Klay around might be setting him up to fail.

I just don't see that happening. I could see him coming off the bench, but unless he's looking to be moved, they probably aren't going to move him. This isn't like moving Bruce Bowen or or even Hill who Pop loved. I understand the need, but just thinking realistically, it doesn't seem likely. Just as they wouldn't likely trade Manu if in his last season (whenever that is) he starts playing poorly more often than not.

I don't know that I see that happening, but it seems a greater possibility than ever before. PATFO owes a greater duty to the team than they do to any individual player - especially when that player earns $15MM/year.

Folks...Pop gives zero s about the #1 seed. If you've been a Spurs fan for more than a week, you know it's all about being healthy for the playoffs, the only season that matters.

They're going to be loyal man if you ask me. It's bad now, but I don't think they'll even consider it. Unless TP is cool with it, they'll continue to figure out ways to use him sparingly.
