I say it somewhere here, but with the wink-wink Pau deal, Mills getting reupped so quickly and Parker not being moved, it seems like PATFO intended on keeping those guys. On the other hand, LMA and Green were both said to be on the block.
To create a max slot, the Spurs had two route (with numerous in-between paths, obviously): Trading/not reupping the three Ps and keeping all of those guys with Pau taking a RJ special, Mills using his hold and Tony not doing anything while moving Green and LMA. I hope I'm wrong, but I think that was the plan, and that's why Paul said no, because it's not a good plan, objectively.

I wouldn't say his rookie season bc all rooks need time to adjust to the league, even the lottery picks. But at least having the potential to be a more versatile player? yes. and by versatile I mean someone whose value is not just shooting 3s, and who can do something else if his 3 pt shot is not falling that particular night.
Mills has value, for sure, when he's surrounded by playmakers and others who can get their own shots and draw attention from him, but as the Spurs move away from the old big 3, their only player of that caliber right this second was Kawhi. Overpaying for guys who are so limited IMO was not the way to go. I wanted them to make a real improvement. So I am disappointed. I am disappointed, I am disappointed, I am disappointed, etc.
We can even let the Mills criticism aside. I wanted the team to improve.

It really is. I always thought TP kind of coasted after the 2014 Finals win. Came back out of shape the following year after 2014 and since then its been a lot of inconsistency.

Every shot Swaggy P takes is one that Durant/Curry/Thompson aren't taking. Their other role players do other things. Young is an average three point shooter, so let him shoot away. Yes, his shots will be less contested in GS.
How often do they stand Pat tho? 2013-2014 they did, and they got a le out of it. 2015 they got LMA, etc... They've been changing quite a bit, and it goes against their previous strength of having that continuity. That was their staple while other teams changed drastically, they had continuity and chemistry.
We don't know what their big FA signing is, FA is still very young.

Exactly. The injury likely has him even more motivated and focused. Nothing wrong with that. Even TD as he got older changed his diet and workout routine, but no one says "why didn't TD work that hard before" . TD obviously had an amazing work ethic btw, he was adapting to the times and his body.
