Most puzzling mass shooting in history. I don't ing get it. In pretty much every mass shooter incident, the perpetrator fits the "angry, socially isolated, bitter" profile who "strikes back" at the world he thinks has treated him unfairly. This guy was supposedly a multimillionaire, had a girlfriend he loved and who loved him, and basically looked like the chill uncle who likes Jimmy Buffet. I know a few details have surfaced about him being a bit eccentric and standoffish, but he was nothing like Adam Lanza, for instance.
Only probable motive is that he gambled away his fortune and cracked.
It's possible he did it simply for the thrills, but psychopaths and serial killers who fit the thrill killer profile are literally addicted to killing and start very early, often in their teens and continue throughout their life. He has no history of violence. If he did indeed inherit his father's psychopathy, he would've demonstrated such behavior much earlier in his life, especially during late teens/early adulthood, when hormones and testosterone are raging.
Strange. Nothing adds up here (psychologically speaking, not conspiracy theory speaking).

I dont think it had anything to do with him losing his fortunes gambling. I saw on the news he wired 100k to his girlfriend or her family. And prior to that went on a gambling spree.
Seems to me he had it planned out and was emptying his coffers before commiting this terrible act.
Possibly could've been his last 100K, along with the gambling spree money.
Thrill kill motive might be the most probable. But it's unprecedented for a thrill killer to start this late (unless he is indeed a lifelong serial killer who managed to live this long undetected).
Some kind of brain abnormality (tumor, lesion, deterioration as the result of Alzheimer's)? Charles Whitman didn't understand why he was compelled to kill and requested his brain be examined after his death. A tumor was found (although some experts disagree on the extent of the role the tumor played in his actions).
