Some of you may have been optimistic about rookie Derrick White's chances of making an immediate impact with the Spurs. Think again. Here's what Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said about White's role for this season: "There's a spot over on the bench that's going to get polished by the seat of his pants. His role will be to watch, learn and absorb as much as he can. He's a great kid. But there's no room at the end right now. There are going to be other people on the court."
lol that was great. So much thought put into the simplest statements.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich explains here how he made the mistake of trying to change LaMarcus Aldridge as a player when the power forward first arrived in San Antonio: "I did talk with him several times during the summer. He just didn't feel comfortable. It's 98.75 percent on me, and whatever's left - because I can't subtract that much - on him. But I tried to change him. I thought back to when Timmy [Duncan] came, and people said, ‘What are you going to do with Tim Duncan?' I said, ‘Nothing. I'm just going to watch him for about six months, see what he does. He's a pretty good player, and if there's something I think I can add, then I'll do it.' With LaMarcus, he got here and on Day 1, I said, ‘OK, you're going to do this, and you're going to do this pump fake.' I tried to change him. I tried to make him a different player, and I think that really affected his ability to feel comfortable and confident on the court. And we took care of that, basically by me letting him know that we were going to do it differently, and that it was on me, not him."
All that's missing from that video to confirm that it's tholdren are womens corpses and faces turned into lampshades.
God damn it.
Spurs lose by double digits. Thankfully it's a late start so I can go to bed in the third quarter when it's out of reach.
wow dude. I felt a lot over the last two years that we put a lot on him coming after Timmy. Well it looks like it started at the top.
Good on Pop for admitting it. Sucks it took two years but after the extension better late than never.
So, Pop getting LMA to play defense was a bad thing?
It's offense. Offensively he tried to convert him. I see what they tried to do tho, but pop admits he asked him to do different things, on offense/
Thanks for posting that. Same old Pop. He's got a glut of guards, someone is going to have to sit. Unsurprising.
