Raven rarely has takes that are influential. But on the Lonzo tip, winning is more important to me than hype/whatever. Since we're surpassing last season's win total, it's palpable.

mehh ...his hype etc has no influence on me.
It's not about hype - it's about the opportunity cost of drafting Lonzo at #2 over a better prospect for today's league.

Your comparison to Pail doesnt make any sense ...Lonzo not only doesnt over dribble but in fact should dribble more.
Not saying they play the exact same way... just pointing out how a PG who can't take over the game with scoring limits the ceiling of a team if they're a key player on the roster.

le teams need unselfish guys like Iggy, Odom, Kidd Pippen Bowen who are more focused on the collective than hunting shots or glory.
So you'd be satisfied with drafting Bowen or Iguodala with the second overall pick?

No way will he be as good as Magic ...hey may never be Kidd.
but even in modern NBA hebhas value because he increases tempo pace and space rebounds ay an elite, rate and finds shooters. if ingram has to playmake some to offset what he does not well ...that is good for the development of both guys.

kid is only 20 ...and Lakers are not contenders so we have time to watch and wait for him develop ...

oh and Lebron aint coming ...so Laker fans beter appreciate Randle, Lonzo Kuz and BI ...
Spot on, per par. Didn't DOK once say that you can't rang with a PG as your best player (or something like that)? Well, he's not our best player (BI is IMO). Once we add talent, neither BI, Randle, Zo, or Kuz will be no more than 2nd options (if we get a max player) - 3rd if we get two.

I'm in a a great state of mind here. Our young guns are developing. We've beaten several playoff teams already: Sprs, Wizards, Rockets, Philly, Celtics , Nuggs, OKC (twice), Indiana, and the Heat last night. We went toe to toe with the Dubs and could have won all 3 games (moral victories count for nothing). We were compe ive in several other games whereas we lost due to turnovers, stupid fouls, and a ton of missed freebies (all traits of the NBA's youngest team).

So if we have to grow into contention from within, I'm cool with it because I've seen several encouraging signs. Even the Dubs grew from within...then put themselves in position (cap wise) to make key signings to complement their core. Look at them now: a juggernaut that these farmers hate

They set the blueprint. Maginka would be wise to follow it. Time will tell if they have the pedigree to turn this thing around. We shall see....

I'll bite: who's a better overall prospect in this class than Zo? Fox? Tatum? Who? I'd take Zo overall of them and I'm not even joking.

Not saying they play the exact same way... just pointing out how a PG who can't take over the game with scoring limits the ceiling of a team if they're a key player on the roster.
If that's true, explain why, despite him scoring only 8 points, why was he a game high +24? That's higher than IT (29 points), Randle (25 points), Dragic (19 points, 7 assists), etc. Answer: because individual scoring isn't the only way to take over a game. Rebounding, steals, deflections that lead to steals, assisting teammates with scoring, etc - Zo does all that in spades to take over games.

Sidenote: he's shooting 42% from downtown over his last 15 games (which would be 16th in the league if it were for the whole season btw). He shot 66% last night and 100% last game. His shot is still a work in progress, but he is improving...

So you'd be satisfied with drafting Bowen or Iguodala with the second overall pick?

iggy was a high lottery pick too ...
And doesnt matter where you get unselfishness from ... i just know u need it and Kidd was also the #2 pick ...
And even in today's NBA ...I would have no problem drafting him #2 in last year or this year's draft ...and yes I would take him over Lonzo ...

Longo is a bust, having IT will make them win more games, and Lakerfan will say it was Fecalonzo.

Oh NOW scoring matters to you? You're a fat fingered joke. FH son

Mid single digits in 3 categories isn't "filling up the box scores". If he had 20 assists, or 15 rebounds, or 25 points we could talk. He posted scrub numbers. This is like a ing prank.

He's not better than Randle or IT. Both would be starting for the Spurs and Lonzo, being a rookie with a mouthy father, would never see the floor. He'd be traded to Phoenix for late 2nd round pick.

So you like one dimensional gunners. They're a dime a dozen throughout the league. Scoring is the only thing they do better.

Not gonna knock either player because I like them both, but I sincerely like Zo better.

I see Zo's ceiling as 12-15ppg, 8-11apg, 7-9rpg, 2spg. I'll take numbers like that from my PG. I mean he's giving us 10/7/7 right now as a rookie so my pipe dream ceiling for him seems reasonable. If 10/7/7 is his floor, I'll take it.
